A very strange, difficult to follow movie that doesn't always work but somehow convinces the viewer that this is probably as authentic a portrayal of Poland in 1974 as can be found. Based on this and his debut, Królikiewicz has a feeling for the down-and-out, and a willingness to try all kinds of techniques to convey the sense of a milieu. One melancholy part of the memorable soundtrack strongly reminded this viewer of some musical pieces in THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG and THE STUNT MAN.
