White Snake II: The Tribulation of the Green Snake

More ambitious than the 2019 film, but I'm not sure about the portions that took her out of her dreamy world. So it might be a case of being too ambitious for its own good. Visually, it's a step up. Still in that territory where what was going on wasn't that important.

White Snake II almost feels like a reimaging of the first film. While some of the concepts introduced are intriguing, the abandoned continuity and inescapable sense of déjà-vu is frustrating. The animation is decent, but the structure of the plot and inadequate or mis-timed explanations bring the plot down. This is particularly true of the interpretation of Fa Hai's character. Despite some muddled plotting, the characters are fairly straightforward and film is fairly enjoyable & easy to follow.
