An insane woman lies to a family while their son is in a coma. When she gets caught everyone ends up being cool with it because she is attractive and the brother wants to be inside her.

As rom-coms go, it's pretty good. Lovable characters, a great supporting cast, and the writers have at least a basic understanding of how real people behave. Also, Sandra Bullock is awesome.

In many ways an unambitious romantic comedy, but at least what it does it does very well. Certainly Bullock's natural charm is a big part of that, but the supporting cast is too. They all get a few good lines, never overstay their welcome and spending time with them feels very comfortable.

My GIRLFRIEND loves this but this is among the worst romcoms I've seen. There's no chemistry between Bullock & Pullman, neither of them are really characters beyond Ally McBealish concepts of quirkiness, the notion that Bullock is hopelessly single and alone stretches disbelief, and the whole story is horrifically creepy (think of the genders being reversed!). I made her watch The Shining for some wholesomeness.

I don't know, maybe I'm incapable of not liking films made in the mid 90s. It's not the greatest thing ever, but it's enjoyable, and god damn Sandra Bullock is adorable.

This is such a charming romcom that its central plot of a woman lying about the man in a coma being her fiancee and then falling in love with his brother is handled so casually. Sandra Bullock is an ugly woman that no one wants. We know this because she has hot dogs everyday for lunch, and she wears big comfy sweaters. Luckily, the sexy blue-collar man sees through this, and can love her for her soul. And because she's Sandra Bullock.

Charming romcom. Bill Pullman with a full head of hair. Sandra Bullock at the height of her "ugly" shtick, though props to them for not giving her a magical transformation at the end. I don't think I've watched another film featuring a ticket attendant. The family was the real heart of the film, with some dashes of humor from Michael Rispoli. Fav scene: " I don't drink anymore... I don't drink any less, either!"

Good "chick flick" type film, but the chemistry between main characters isn't that great. Sandra Bullock was much better with Hugh Grant in "Two Weeks Notice."

It’s so cute. Unexpectedly ethical, given the premise. Like, what was she supposed to do? The ending is silly & escapist, but it’s endearing nonetheless.

Cute people, cozy sweaters, twinkling eyes, carpentry-lots of merry milieu to appreciate in this enjoyable little holiday rom com. The premise is slightly far-fetched but is well developed (post-coma adds a great new dynamic), is matched by the generally quirky aura (see the bickering family members, goofball neighbour, people wiping out in b-roll shots), and is balanced nicely by the relatable yearning and anxiety of the down-to-earth lead (“You have no idea what it’s like to be alone”).

Sandra Bullock is too much to handle as it is, but if you then throw in Bill Pullman then it becomes almost unbearable. The saving grace is an ineffable 1990s charm and a wiff of the genuinely romantic.

Sit back, relax, enjoy the multitude of cheesy moments and the creepy premise. Kinda awful, but we're into so bad it's good territory. Joe Jr. is quite the character.

A strong performance from Bullock, otherwise dragged down by uninspired direction, an only functional script, and cookie-cutter supporting characters. Once the premise is solidified at the end of the first act, or by simply looking at the poster, little reason to watch the film remains.

Some attempts at witty humor save it from being a complete disaster, but in terms of romance it's among the cringeworthiest writing i ever endured. Just consider: sandra bollocks stars as a supposed ugly duckling with no family or friends, but everyone she meets immediately loves her because she's so adorable and awesome. Anything? No? Well, then you're the perfect fit for this crap.

Bullock makes this--downcast most of the film, but occasionally lets the smile loose, which with a consistent sweetness to her character is just electric. Plotwise, completely ludicrous, but anyone looking for sensibility in these types of movies is kookier than the plots themselves.
