Where Do We Go from Here?

Junk dealer Bill (Fred MacMurray) finds his dreams of military service quashed by his 4F status. He discovers a scatter-brained genie (Gene Sheldon) and tries to wish his way into the Army, but is instead catapulted across history, from the Revolutionary Way to Columbus' voyage. A fascinating premise with a lavish production and some fairly good songs, almost totally undone by a slapdash script and possible re-cutting. The result is occasionally enjoyable but overall an interesting failure.

Such a bizarre trainwreck that it becomes entertaining for all the wrong reasons.
