Nabb controls the pass and lets all the ranchers through except Holderness and his stolen cattle. When Nabb refuses to sell, Holderness works an his son Snap who has run up gambling debts. There is more trouble when Snap becomes jealous of Judy's attraction to the surveyor Jack. When Holderness has Snap killed, everyone heads to town for the showdown. (imdb)

First western Randolph Scott starred in and the feature film debut of the highly consistent and underrated director Henry Hathaway. And even on his first attempt with a western, which was very low priority at the time, Hathaway put more dimension into the characters then any of the other western makers of the era! Just watch as he captures the incredible beauty of Sally Blane and the romance developing between her and Scott! Sure this does have it's rough edges but what 1930s western doesn't?
