What the #$*! Do We Know is part documentary, part story, and part elaborate and inspiring visual effects and animations. The protagonist, Amanda (Matlin), finds herself in a fantastic Alice in Wonderland experience when her daily, uninspired life literally begins to unravel, revealing the uncertain world of the quantum field hidden behind what we consider to be our normal, waking reality. A miserable film. Cult psychobabble masquerading as something profound. If I saw this film on an airplane, I'd walk out on it.

This film is propagandist b.s. According to Physics Today Online, the film invokes quantum physics to promote pseudoscience.[11] The article also states that the movie does this by starting with recognized concepts from quantum physics, but then "gradually moves to quantum 'insights' that lead a woman to toss away her antidepressant medication, to the quantum channeling of Ramtha, the 35,000-year-old Atlantis god, and on to even greater nonsense."

New Age tripe that does a major disservice to real researchers and scientists. The only redeeming thing I can think of is that it might interest someone enough to actually do a bit of research on their own.

Pseudo-scientific big lie, what it's not science is just made up and what is science is twisted, misunderstood and directly changed (interviews are highly modified). Then, there are those new-age 'scientists' that keep refusing to make double blind experiments and they say they are the only ones that can do that (the definition of not-science).

Spiritual propaganda that attempts to be science. The extrapolation of quantum effects to our macroscopic world is downright ludicrous and blatently untrue: google "quantum decoherence" and/or "quantum entanglement" to find out why our macroscopic world does not display quantum-like effects. Spirituality is fine, but don't try to repackage it as science, because it is not. Avoid at all costs.

I feel bad for people who seek inspiration in movies like this that proclaim: 'Your life could be special!'. But movies like this, in fact all 'religious' propaganda, are part of the fake life which is the cause of the lack of inspiration. I feel bad for the guy who sits in a cubicle every day and whom this movie cannot give anything real. I should also mention that 'What The ...' has nothing of interest cinematically, and that Matlin delivers perhaps her worst performance ever.

A horrible cult manipulation of few facts into many annerving and untrue statements. Quantum mechanics were never raped so vigorously. Thinking this is deep is as much a mistake as thinking we should respect scientology.

New-age psycho-babble that tells you that you're God. And it relies on JZ Knight to say most of the key points/claims. For those who don't know her, she's the sole-channeller of the 33,000 year old warrior spirit "Ramtha". Don't get me wrong, quantum mechanics is fun, but not when it becomes a religion (as this is attempted to do). Interesting points raised about the power of our thoughts though.

I'm honestly quite surprised at how much this movie is hated, most certainly because the directors/writers are students of Ramtha's School of Enlightenment. I thought the film provided a very positive message about positive thinking and science is making a clear connection between a person's state of mental health and physical health. Certainly some of it is very far fetched but I did enjoy the general positive tone.

Baloney sandwich with a side of baloney! It starts out innocently enough, seeming to look at small curiosities of "science." It isn't long before it takes a hard left into full-blown crap, ultimately ending in a cultish world view as a precursor to "The Secret," another "documentary" steeped in psuedoscience. Little more than a gross, gross distortion of quantum mechanics. Like "The Secret," avoid if you value your brain cells.

There are some interesting thoughts and I can appreciate the interest to "look deeper" but it's pretty scattered and I felt as though the speakers were playing to the audience rather then just explaining. The fictionalized story was a total waste of time and more effort should've been put into making it a more cohesive doc. Just have a look at the other scores it's been given, this is a tough sell in our cynical world.

Entertaining persuasive speculation is more philosophy than science; goes somewhat off the rails in the final quarter, veering into "new age" self-help pabulum, and nearly shoots itself in the foot by intercutting its talking heads with an inexplicable "narrative" starring Matlin who can't bring much life or energy to the material she is given; the scenarios depicted don't really dramatise the philosophy, and just cause greater confusion. Still invigorating enough food for thought.

When I first saw this I was blown away by the complexities of physics. I ended up taking university physics courses to understand some of this. This film seemed like they took a scientific shotgun, loaded it with opinions and little quirks, and then blasted it straight into Einstien's chest. It borders a little too much on the spirituality aspect, and thus compromises it as a respectable film as a whole.

Pretty much on par with The Secret, but as a weird quasi-narrative story format and an unexpected amount of Mucinex-commercial-esque early 3D animations. Would be great if they could substantiate any of the claims, but efforts aren't made to do so, and it's rife with fallacy, broken logic, absurd arguments. I'm not even on the militant secular/materialist anti-metaphysics crusade with Dawkins, Penne & Teller, but this film is just a bold affront to science, logic & critical thinking... ;-(

So bad it's vomit inducing. You think, "it can't be THAT bad," but it's worse. A pseudo-documentary about new age mysicism, it tries to be a documentary but it only becomes a conmedy when you realize that these people may actually believe this pap! One of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of seeing.

Awful like you wouldn't believe. I was saddened by the fact that a sympathetic actor such as Matlin was in it. There is no physics, or any actual science here, only lies. Actually, that word should be in all caps: LIES. if I sound upset, it's because I am. If you like this, put any credence to this, or if it even made you doubt anything you used to believe, you should be shot with all the others into the sun. It's not 'misunderstood', it's swill. It's as bad as scientology.

It's not disasterous as made out to be, some figurizations are accurate, but it certainly is not the best place learn introductory information about quantum mechanics. On the other hand it's very manipulative for virgin minds, manipulating the concepts towards gibberish new age philosophy. This is more of a propaganda material than documentary.
