Although predictable the script has some amusing moments. The cast work well together here. Overall I would recommend this movie.

A charming cast with good chemistry, a script chock full of random witty banter (Driver's crude best friend is a highlight), and the dulcet tones of Patrick Watson aren't enough to completely distract from the utterly predictable romance plot (a "just kidding" airport scene near the end got my hopes up but it was not to be), but they at least make it a pleasant journey, and credit is deserved for how long they postponed the inevitable, though it seemed to make the ending that much more meh.

Predictable from beginning to end, still did not have that bad a time and enjoyed most of the dialogue.

Decent rom-com. The leading couple are both convincing and relatable, and the story flows pretty well and feels genuine most of the time, bar a few overly cliche escapades towards the end. What annoyed me most was how sex-focused it was. Apparently if you want to be in a relationship with someone all you're after is sex. What?

This rom-com is really not bad. Zoe Kazan is cute, all the actors are competent, the script is amusing. But the sound mixing is so bad it looks like a foreign movie dubbed into English.

A dated romance that supports the notion that true love makes you do crazy things... Including cheat on your current partner (emotionally and physically), I guess. Also, a sign of the times, all of the lead characters like to casually sprinkle gross descriptions into their banter. I will say the acting is as good as it can be, and the soundtrack is pleasant.

Cute and charming. Weirdly tries to be a bit moralistic about cheating and then is just says fuck it (obviously). Kazan just irritates me.

"I want to make a terrible movie in Canada--everyone else has!"--Scott Thompson, Canadian. As I was watching it, I kept thinking, "Who WROTE this shit?" And when I found out, I said, "Who?" Awful writing. Irritating characters, not that any are the least bit believable anyway. Sole exception: Adam Driver's, and he's the only actor to emerge unscathed. Even Daniel Radcliffe's apparently limitless charm can't save his role. And why he wants that dishonest twat... A chick flick in the worst sense.

The appealing cast somewhat makes up for the script's piling of contrivance on top of contrivance, not quite completely.

The clear highlight of the film is Adam Driver - naturally - but that's normal because after all he is an extra-terrestrial being come from outer space to entertain humanity with his voice, demeanour, acting and comedic timing. The film itself is good fun and easy to watch, although the genre-typical contrivances and over-the-top aspects (and convenience) hit it down. Too much emphasis on sex and some unrealistic dialogue pull it down further. But Elia Kazan's granddaughter plays in it!

Truth be told there are a few nitpicks I could find: some aesthetics are not to my taste, the alternate ending (which arguably is not really even part of the movie proper) was a bit saccharine. However, taken as a whole, this is a fantastic rom-com about the challenge of staying "just friends" with someone you want more with.

Run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. What keeps it from being completely forgettable is Radcliffe and Kazan. The best moments are when the two of them are quickly trading quippy retorts. The less tolerable moments are when they are quietly staring at each other. The slapstick is quite funny, especially since it's used sporadically. And Driver is a solid choice as the supporting best friend.

Friend Zoned: The Movie. You have to feel sorry for poor Daniel Radcliffe as he falls head over heels for the beautiful Zoe Kazan. I really don't need any excuses to see a Kazan movie, but I'm glad my sister-in-law recommended this. I thought some of the jokes were really good, I especially like when the boyfriend gets knocked out a window. Adam Driver is always funny, with his dry sense of humor and love of nachos...

Showing no originality, this movie does the most superficial and boring study on relationships. The characters and dialogue are awkward, and Radcliffe's acting is unbearable.

I think part of me really loves this movie for the setting of Toronto. Loved seeing all of the locations in and around the city that I know and love, being visited by these great people. The story is sweet and nice, and can be pretty funny at times. It's a predictable film, but it hits its moments perfectly and with a cast that seemed to really care.

What If they remade "When Harry Met Sally"? Well...it works out quite well. Cast is likeable and dialogue seems genuine (rather than your typical over written movie repartee).

It's romantic, it's sweet, it's genuine and it does handle the topic of friendship/love really honestly. The cast is genuinely funny, upbeat and equally as sad when the scene calls for it. It captures life with that rare understanding of the moment and how quickly things can change forever. Mackenzie Davis is becoming my new favorite actress, and Radcliffe proves he has range. Plus his chemistry with Kazan was easy to identify with. All in all a solid movie. Genuinely real.

Actually really decent, but the aspect that turned me off was the forced "quirky", off-key humor between the two leads. It makes the whole movie feel somewhat pandering. Apart from that, the acting is good and the chemistry between the two actors is great. The themes in this movie have mostly been done to death, but as a whole, this movie still manages to feel fresh. I do feel like morally, this movie missed the mark a few times, but that might just be me. Still, overall an enjoyable movie.

Now this is the way a romantic comedy should be done. Off kilter humor, good dialogue/writing, and good music instead of that sickening teeny bopper stuff they're using in everything now, even in serious drama previews FGS! Yeah, you're sure they gonna get together, but not really, and it's that tension, together but apart, that puts spark in the story. Thumbs up for Zoe Kazan. She's no great beauty but she's got a lock on cute...and talent.

A breezy, witty rom-com whose dialogue feels real and whose characters feel (generally) pretty likeable. As examples of the genre go in 2014, this is a very good one, and the cast is stacked with fantastic actors (Zoe Kazan, Adam Driver - and Radcliffe's performance here is his best yet too). Worth watching, delivering smiles both comedic and heartwarming.

What If is a funny and sweet movie. It's also a very predictable one. It works primarily because of a humorous script and two lead actors who have great chemistry together. You will laugh for most of it. You will also see exactly where it's eventually going to go, even with all the teasing the film gives you. Is it worth seeing? I think so. It was funny enough and its leads were enjoyable to watch. Does it rely heavily on clichés, especially near the end? Sure, but that comes with the territory.

The film is very predicatble but its still pact with enjoyable moments. The first 15 minutes was a little rough around the edges with the dialogue sounding incredibly pretentious. It took time for the characters to bed into the story but once this happens the film becomes a really fun watch. The chemistry between the lead characters came across really well on screen. Daniel Radcliffe does ok but I think he needs a bigger and better performance to move out of the Harry Potter shadow.
