2020 Re-Watch: My how my sense of humour has changed over the years. When I was a kid, I thought this was hilarious, but watching it again some 30 years later, I didn't even laugh once. And holy shit, 90% of the movie is ADR. I guess there was too much seagull noise in the original audio. With that being said, if my friends DON"T "Weekend At Bernie's" my corpse when I die, something has gone horribly wrong with my last will and testament.

The premise itself kept me laughing for about 30 minutes, so even though it runs out of jokes pretty quickly, I found it pretty amusing overall. It's pretty wacky throughout, but the physical humor earns some giggles. The 80s were a weird time.

I'm weak. If you can finish the slog that is the first 1/2 hour get ready for some chortles. I'm an idiot and when you throw a ragdoll dummy around and smack it into things I'll laugh, I'm only human. A stupid, easily entertained human. I'm hesitant to dive into the sequel but we'll see what happens.

It's a terrible movie, that's for sure, but still, it's a movie about a couple of guys who turn a corpse into a puppet so they can party and get laid. That retarded audacity deserves 45 points alone. Also, necrophilia!

Conceptually the most amazing film ever created. In all seriousness though, what the fucking fuck? Did anybody buy this premise? Or was the country just cinematically incapacitated due to a nationwide party hangover in 1989?

Yeah so Weekend at Bernie's was never gonna win any prestigious awards but it's easy to see why it's become somewhat of a cult hit: a stupidly-silly fun film that doesn't ever pretend to be anything it's not. Virtually every scene with Gwen slows the flick down and could've been left out completely, but the rest is all light and amusing stuff that never takes itself too seriously.

It's super stupid, I know, but Jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy are just too cute. I remember watching it repeatedly back in the day... I could probably just watch it again on those occasions that I feel like I need a laugh and not think too much. 80s comedies will always be supremely better than almost any awful formulaic "comedy" made from 1995 forward, with a few exceptions of course (Kevin Smith and the Coen Bros. come to mind.)

Weekend at Bernie's has a pretty amusing premise, with a plot that is as much action-crime-drama as it is dark-comedy. The film is both dated and unrealistic, and sadly not very good. It feels over-acted and the characters are somewhat unlikable. There are funny moments and the film nails its final scene, but ultimately its legacy is just a cultural reference (and an unenforceable will provision) not a comedy classic.

The worst part of this movie isn't the "puppeting a dead body" thing - that part manages a few really funny moments, though also a lot of dreadful ones. The worst part is that the narrative genuinely seems to think that being an executive for an insurance company is a cool, stylish life goal for fun people, and that having that as the protagonists' Big Dream makes them sympathetic and interesting? (The writing sure as hell doesn't do anything else to make them so.)

This used to be a blast when I was a kid, but now not so much in 2016. There was way more slapstick than I remembered, and it gets quite tired after a while. The characters are not that interesting either and the whole thing has a strange vibe between childish and creepy.

You'd think at least one idiot in this movie would realise that 'Hang on, Bernie's been a little quiet lately and hasn't said anything except give ridiculous gesticulations through the use of weird makeshift gadgets used by 2 geeks to help him pull this charade off''.Hmm, something must be going on.The one solace this lame excuse for a comedy delivers is that it gives us hope that we too can one day deliver a good swift kick to the balls at our enemy even after we've passed on.

Myeh. Couldn't live without it can't imagine what I see in it. Definitly had to be there for these times. Can you believe they actually made a sequel. Grrrr. Any way this movie is funny and worth the 90 some odd minutes it will take to watch it. It is approachable comedic and downright ridiculous but not all films can be memorable. Just the ones that have a good storyline and excellent actors and directors. Shame on you guys.

We have to get through some tired New York comedy, some tired first-date comedy, and some tired Mafia comedy, before we reach the main yawn of the evening: the dead body that won't stay down. It takes an unusually autocratic scriptwriter and an unusually compliant cast of characters to keep the body propped up.
