We Live in Time

I liked Garfield's performance in this well-judged time-jumping melodrama.

Very well acted. The gas station scene was a reminder of why I love seeing movies with an audience.

We Live In Time explores the inevitability of death and the emotional process of accepting it in a melancholic, delicate way. The film follows a couple's bittersweet journey through love, loss, and acceptance with tenderness, capturing the emotional weight of preparing for loss in a touching, poetic manner. Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh’s chemistry was perfect, anchoring the film’s heart and soul with their authentic, moving performances.

Look, you don’t have to reinvent the romance genre or subvert it much to make a good movie. Sometimes all you need is an amazing pair of leads. This has that, Pugh a Garfield both crushed it, but it helps that we got a movie that’s just so genuinely honest about love, the highs and lows. It also helps when your leads feel like their own fleshed-out characters and not like caricatures. It’s pretty sad, yet effortlessly charming and funny. A new comfort movie for me. More like this please!

A movie for old people disguised as an A24 movie for younger people. I also found the Pugh and Garfield “chemistry” extremely tiresome.

We Live In Time would very much be your typical indie romance/melodrama if not for Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. They're chemistry and frankly borderline Oscar worthy performances elevate an otherwise average film. There are a handful of interesting character moments sprinkled throughout the screenplay, but ultimately the non linear storytelling feels more like a gimmick than any sort of necessary well thought out plot device. It's inessential except for diehard Pugh and/or Garfield fans.
