Wonderful vulgar comedy about the vulgar with the help of a vulgar servant wants to fool the other vulgars. Terrific performances from terrific actors like Harry Baur, Louis Jouvet, Charles Dullin and the rest, making this play come alive so much. The production is quite simple. The scenes still look lavishing thanks to the costume and set designs. There is perhaps not enough emphasis on the humiliations, which is where Maurice Tourneur could have done better, but this was still a great joy.
