Vixen lives in a Canadian mountain resort with her naive pilot husband. While he's away flying in tourists, she gets it on with practically everybody including a husband and his wife, and even her biker brother. She is openly racist, and she makes it clear that she won't do the wild thing with her brother's biker friend, who is black. (imdb)

An absurdly racist married woman fucks just about every person she meets in this silly Russ Meyer softcore boobfest, including a sexy lesbian romp and a roll in the hay with her own brother. Erica Gavin has a great body but is a pretty terrible actress, so every scene where she's not naked is an endurance test. Then at the end the movie shoehorns in a ridiculous message that can be summed up as: "Racism in America is bad, but at least we're not filthy Communists." Ok, Russ.

Actually reaches a spirited ideology based climax surrounding an aircraft (I'm pointing a nipple at you Argo). Vixen has a character arc that when meeting its conclusion is almost pleasant. This film has been labelled as capturing the Zeitgeist of the era & I'd say it does so, in an extreme and intentional fashion. Immense sexual freedom coupled with unabashed racism topped off with some broad era-local political debate. Not a bad little script despite 30% of it being softcore sex.

One of the high points in the career of Meyer -- a film that combines humor and eroticism in a very original way. Gavin gives a mesmerizing, high-camp performance as Vixen.

Original, funny, and sexy: one of Russ Meyer's best films. Erica Gavin is shocking and disturbing as the horrifically racist Vixen, while Harrison Page gives another wonderful Meyer performance as Niles. Not just a movie about a sex-kitten who fucks everyone in the cast (even her brother!), but it's also about race relations, communism, America, and everything in between. Basically the beginning of the second period of Meyer's career. OF COURSE it contains the "through the springs" shot.

It's not an exaggeration when one calls Russ Meyer the Eisenstein of sex films. And like one doesn't have to be a communist to enjoy Battleship Potemkin, one doesn't have to be obsessed with sex to enjoy his cinema. This one particularly stands out thanks to explosive Erica Gavin. Immortal film.

Russ Meyer, like Fred Rogers, is an American treasure.

Deep. thoughtful oscar material presented in this film. Haha, ok maybe not, all you need to see is who the director is and you should know what to expect. There are a lot of beautiful silicon free babes in here for sure.
