A fantastic idea: the 1972 Munich Olympics profiled by 8 major directors. The results are uneven--expected for a compendium. Ozerov's segment is pointless, Zetterling's intriguing, Penn's lyrically beautiful, Pfleghar's well-shot but underwhelming, Ichikawa's overly brief, Forman's amusingly audacious, Lelouch's haunting, and Schlesinger's highly powerful (it alone touches on the hostage crisis). Some great imagery, editing, and use of sound; Henry Mancini's great score ties it all together.

Zetterling, Lelouch and Schlesinger contribute the best segments. There's a lot of great stuff, but these were the most convincing, and revealing.
