To be honest, Jamie Lee Curtis is no Tony, William Baldwin is no Alec (or even Stephen) and Donald Sutherland is no...Keifer (ok that one didn't work).

Ehn sometimes Jamie Lee Curtis needs to eat. The bad Baldwin. Everything sounds like pigs.

Not quite as bad as people make it out to be. I think the best way to describe the film is Moby Dick meets The Thing and Alien and misfires. The acting talent here from Sutherland and Jamie Lee Curtis is wasted, though Cliff Curtis has somewhat memorable Queequeg character. However the body horror of the cyborg creatures is still memorably haunting but the goofy silliness far overrides any positives to make this really worth watching.

Had a super cool idea and started out strong and mysterious. Crew members are easily identifiable from each other and I will always love Jamie Lee Curtis in these action roles. But it's so clunky and grows so boring. I can appreciate the special effects in all of their B-movie style awkwardness and they are kind of fun. The plot was just jumping all over the place and any attempts to build up suspense just failed miserably.

System Shock The Movie!! ...well, almost. Probably as close as I'm likely to get. And I do admit that my liking this movie is almost entirely due to my love of System Shock, in case you are wondering why I scored it so highly compared to the general consensus.

Count the rip-offs: ALIEN, TERMINATOR, FIRST CONTACT, DEEP RISING, LEVIATHAN, oh my goodness there isn't a breath of originality in these tired lungs. Having an actual virus is more enjoyable than sitting through this one.

Gets points for insanity, which turned a generic stinker into a surprising, and entertaining kind of spectacle.

Didn't make much of a splash when it came out, and it's not particularly impressive now. Disposable, but not terrible. One to watch if you're in the mood to get some sci-fi and can't find anything else you haven't seen. Take your time, it'll probably be a while before you need to stoop to that.

-1 for the awful naysaying plot at the beginning Great Mechanicus and Weaver vibes, very housegames especially the looting of guns and the excessive use of them and thermite.

Not nearly as bad as most make it out to be. It is an unapologetic sci-fi/horror/thriller that basically delivers what it sets out to do. Check your brain at the door and enjoy the ride. The largely big name cast do their best with a kind of weak script (especially dialogue).

Seriously impressive practical work/body horror, but otherwise, there's not really a good reason to watch this?

Another surprising cast of decent actors in a dumb creature feature. I really like the look of the creatures in this one. There's a lot of stretched-out, stitched skin over clunky random hunks of metal. or cameras coming out of people's heads. It's just so dumb. It has the same plot as any other film with a sentient monster on a boat or in an isolated lab and doesn't do anything beyond this. The aesthetic is wasted. There's nothing else out there that looks like this and it's a bit of a shame.

Your decision on whether to watch Virus should be taken after the first five minutes. If, like me, you burst out laughing at the daftness of it all, you're safe to continue. For while it never quite reaches those silly heights again, it's a dumb but fun sci-fi actioner with some decent effects and Donald Sutherland hamming it up aplenty. Utterly derivative of course, although that's not bad: Feels like watching a panto, where all its stupidity and predictability is just part of the enjoyment.

I suppose the dimly lit nature adds to the creepy feeling, but frequently what is happening is difficult to discern. After awhile there cease to be any real surprises, survivors become obvious, & the ride isn't all that exciting.

It seems as if some decent actors all had a few weeks to kill around the same time, so they threw together this homage to computers gone bad. Of course, 2001 and The Terminator did it way better, but who are we to judge? Oh, wait...yeah...this is a critics' site. This was plain bad.
