Most VM fans (of which I am one) will love this movie simply for existing, but objectively it's pretty average, lacking the spark and energy of the TV series at its best while indulging in a few too many fan-service moments. And yet... it's still Veronica Mars, dammit!

It was great to see the cast work together again, reuniting from the original series. The script had plenty of good moments but I did not like the fate of some of the characters. Overall I would recommend this movie to fans of the series.

It's difficult to see how anyone not familiar with the show would garner much enjoyment from this. I mean, it's a reasonable mystery and all, even if it was immediately obvious who hadn't done it. But it's so tied up in the past of the show, certain characters basically have to turn up in certain places, and without the back story to justify them I think it'd come off much worse. As a fan of the show though, I thoroughly enjoyed it. So there's that.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's pretty much for fans only. It makes me hope for a new series or batch of movies. As others have noted it's more like an episode from the TV show then a feature film

Obviously much less rewarding for non fans who did not see the show, but there is still enough clever humor to pass time. For those fans this is pretty much a long (although darker) episode. I am fine with that.

I would say the movie is not exceptionally but solidly, B level successful at both of its major goals: Being a class reunion for VM fans and telling a murder mystery. Some aspects are iffy in the class reunion regard - it's weird that Gia Goodman has as much or more screentime than Wallace or Weevil - but other aspects really work, including the unfolding mystery of the boat, the tense final set piece, and of course Veronica and Keith's relationship. I could've used less of the stalker fan.

I thought this RULED, but I should add that I loved the series, contributed to the Kickstarter, was swept along by the hype, did the whole song and dance. Veronica is one of my favorite TV characters ever, and she makes it to the big screen completely intact: razor-sharp, quick-witted, high-spirited, and just a whole helluva lot of fun to be around. This movie absolutely VIBRATES with the joy all involved must have felt in resurrecting this world. How it'll play to non-fans, I have no idea.

I liked the show and I enjoyed this movie, but it really feels like a two part episode more than a movie, and while the pacing works for those who've seen the show and can take pleasure in seeing an old face every few minutes I don't know how it would fare for people for whom those moments don't mean anything.

Whether you're a fan of the original television series or not, Veronica Mars is an enjoyable detective movie. It's got a good enough central mystery -- one that's likely to keep you guessing -- enough moments of comedy and drama to hold your attention in the brief periods of downtime, and a strong lead character played wonderfully by Kristen Bell. If you are a fan, I'm sure the numerous references and the inclusion of several series mainstays will instantly remind you why you enjoyed the show.

The transition from cancelled TV series to indie film is fairly smooth, with a compelling murder mystery wrapped in the show's trademark humour. Lots of fan service to please the fans, while those new to the series have a stand-alone plot that will keep their interest. The wrap-up is a bit of a soft lob rather than a hard-hitting punch to the gut, but it is enjoyable. Really feels like an extended episode of the TV show, but that isn't a bad thing.

A long time ago, we used to be friends... And still are. I cannot wait for the new season. I loved this show as a teen, I liked this film, it was very Veronica Mars-y. Great cast, Kristen Bell is perfect, as usual.

Way too much fan service. It's pleasant to see most of the original cast once again, but it'd be better if the first half of the movie wasn't entirely devoted to those " hey look it's me from ten years ago moments. The second half was good though, like a proper Veronica Mars episode from the old days. That ending better be a setup for more to come... it better be...

Disappointing and shallow. Doesn't come close to having the same wit and mystery of the TV show, and doesn't further the show's unresolved storylines. Instead it prefers to lump as many cameos as possible into its runtime while trying, unsuccessfully, to tie them into the central storyline. If you're not a fan of the show you should give this a miss, and the same advice might go to casual fans too. This is strictly for the hardcore fans.

Kudos to Kristen Bell for her entire performance. She really does wonders in this. While I followed the tv series somewhat, I thought the film was a bit too expository for my taste. Characters and motivations were explained all the time. I think a film like Serenity did a better job catching fans up to date--and without having to use a "Previously On..." opening. Still, this is a fun flick, and an interesting mystery. While I wasn't laughing, it did get me to smile a ton. Which says something.

One of my favourite shows back in the day. It's a good movie, doesn't distance itself from it's TV roots so feels a bit like the show itself returning. Surprised how much I still remembered. I'm sure those who chipped in will be happy with the results

I guess this one was sustainable. Very much directed at the fans of the show and not so much on the larger audience, but if you skip a few moments you can follow the story alright. Not the worst TV-show-to-movie I have seen. 46/100.

Having not seen the series I felt no joy over reuniting with these characters. And so this was simply a small, solid, but not very impressing whodunit with a dull lead character.

You don't have to do much Private Eye work to know that I love Veronica Mars. I really enjoyed the show and my greatest regret is that I never finished the final season, due to the fact that when I bought the set, my last disc was missing. Still, this movie feels a lot like the show, with some major issues attached to it...

solid for what it was, but this genre's definitely not my cup of tea. it felt like a tv show that was going on for way longer than it should have, and ultimately lacked the glitz and glamour one usually expects of the big screen (and even the small screen nowadays).

I'm not a massive fan of the series, but have a certain affection for the characters so I went in reasonably excited. I wasn't disappointed. It's a compelling murder mystery with Bell delivering clever and witty retorts to just about everyone... just like the TV show. Maybe it doesn't feel as big as a movie should, but it's a damn good episode, if nothing else. It's not a movie for people unfamiliar with the show, but that should be obvious.

Useless if you are nor already a fan. It is too obscure, too uninteresting. Okayish if you are, but doesn't reach the highest notes of the show. In my opinion that averages to a 40/100, but it is a variable score.

It was decent. I think probably the major problem with it is that the main plot simply isn't interesting or 'big' enough to warrant a film. A lot of the characters get very little screen time, too. It was still really nice to see them again. What it really lacked was the old sets and locations they used to film on. It's got some good humour, some fun cameos, and Kristen Bell's as great as ever. I'm glad I contributed to the film, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of Veronica in the future.

That was rather unsatisfying. It's nice that they wanted to give all the characters from the series a chance to show up again but almost none of them has any connection to the story itself. So they swap between cameos of known faces and murder-plot involving people I don't know (or don't remember). Even Kristen Bell can't save it as even she may have gotten too old for the role. It was a nice try but I'm going to stick with the first two seasons of the show.

Seasons 1 and 2 were bolstered by the highly serialized plot, which obviously this movie can't cram into 1.5 hours, but still it's great to see the gang back together, and the charm is still definitely there. I'm glad this movie happened.

All in all I'd say this was a successful continuation/update of the series as it gathered all the important characters and weaved a solid story around them. It captures enough of the old feeling but at the same time, Veronica has grown and the style and language are more adult than before. I doubt this will win any new fans but existing ones should be satisfied. I just hope they get to make a sequel which concentrates more on the story instead of pleasing all the fans.

Hard for a fan of the series not to buy into the hype and adore this production, especially with its box-ticking cast, in-jokes and attention to detail. Honestly though, this is a rather average TV mystery with a flawed and forgettable plot. It would blend seamlessly into series 2 or 3 of the maligned ex-show. The real marvel is that all this can get made, and to a high standard, off the back of a crowdfunding campaign and people's enthusiasm. Fun to revisit, but don't quit the day job Veronica.

So Veronica Mars, as satisfying as it might be for longtime fans, feels more like a tragedy to me. The entire town is awash in drink, drugs and bad behavior. Meanwhile, Veronica is happily, addictively, at the center of it all once again. (pluggedin.com)
