Russian folk-lore put on screen. One of Aleksandr Rou's early works, about a man trying to break the spell his chosen bride is under. In this fantasy landscape we meet bears, giant spiders, 3-headed dragons and witches. Playful fairytale, playful production. Definitely has some of the magic to make a captivating tale, but there is also some primitive works in the production distracting one from the fantasy. Gets better as we reach the climax, finishing off a rare children's film from those days.
