I don't know if they wanted to make the new Gone With The Wind, or just a lame Sense&Sensibility war-mix. This movie is just below average no matter what, and in all departments. Bad acting (I find Gabriel Byrne acceptable, though, just wanted more of him from first scene to the last), bad casting even more, simply or mostly because dear ol' Reese is TERRIBLE, really hate her. Worst: it is TOO long. TOO LONG. LISTEN. Cut off one hour, and we can talk. Then I might round 50. But probably not.

Annoying and disappointing. This had so much potential, but fell flat in my book. Winner of my "Worst Movie of the Year" award.

İlk yarı son derece güzel ama ikinci yarı... Bol zaman atlamasıyla çorbaya dönmüş ve güzelim hikaye mahvedilmiş.

Should have been a mini-series of at least 3 or 4 episodes, 1 hour each, to be enjoyable.

This adaptation loses both the savagery and the satirical edge and doesn't seem to know what to replace it with. There is a clear effort to make Sharp more likable, but the character is really just kind of lost in the process. The film itself suffers from a similar uncertainty. At times it seems like it's intended as a comedy, but there's really nothing explicitly funny in it. It's a good looking film with an impressive cast that kind of prattles on for 2 1/2 hours with little to no impact.

I'm not even sure what that movie was about, I guess it looked pretty and there were a few nice moments? Unexciting.

Neanche lontanamente bello quanto il libro, ma ha comunque il suo fascino. Film gradevole e senza pretese

Yeah, this was really bland, there story was shoddily put together and the charactrs and actors were incredibly uninteresting.

a really mediocre film ... the alternate ending was the only part which brought some depth and reality to the film ... but they used a ridiculous and completely nonsensical ending which made watching the film an even bigger waste of time

Fantastically boring, especially considering the cast. But at least the costumes are pretty.

Typically I like Witherspoon. But I didn't like this movie. It's been a while since I saw it (and don't intend to see it again) but as I recall it was somewhat pointless and drawn out. It won my "worst movie of the year" award, so....

Amazingly good adaption of the classic love story with a good performance from Witherspoon.

Not bad -- the problems have more to do with the source material than the adaptation.

Beautiful costumes and sets, but the acting is average and the story wasn't really very new or interesting. Reese has been better in mainstream crap.

Fellowes and Nair's take on Thackeray's classic does little to elevate it from an ordinary, dull and safe repetition of too many of its rise-out-of-poverty period film predecessors.

Good chick picture. As the only American in the cast, Reese Witherspoon fits the role pretty well, and gives a better performance than you'd think

Reese Witherspoon proves herself adept at playing a scheming British wannabe socialite in this too long period movie. It can get confusing to keep up with the story and all its characters, but as long as you try, it's a fairly involving drama.
