After quickly laying the foundations of its blandly unexciting vampire world the film wisely decided to veer to the side to follow an un-fanged and wisecracking protagonist wonderfully played by Zoey Deutch, whose engaging performance painted the rest of the film's efforts (good and bad) in a fun, entertaining light.

Possesses no wit, no insight, and no point. Someone decided to stick Daria in Twilgiht thinking that that was all that they needed to do, and that's all they did.

I watched it despite knowing it's crap. But it still quite ahead from Twilight. O. Kurylenko is one of best headmistresses I have ever seen.

I very mildly liked it, at least enough to recommend seeing it. The dialogue can be very corny and stupid, but there are some funny parts. The action is terrible. The mystery of it all is fairly entertaining. It is a little more than just a bland vampire movie and subverts that on occasion, but this could have been a genuinely clever movie had it really tried. But looking at Zoey Deutch for the entire movie helps.

It's low brow, though it's not easy to say it's worse than many of the high grossing franchises. This seems to bring in a lot from Whitewolf's Vampire:The Masquerade and blend in a dose of recent teen fiction flavor.

The only positive thing I can say about Vampire Academy is that it cast some pretty people. The script is atrocious, as is most of the acting. The comedy elements don't work at all, and the film had the audacity to bait a sequel at the end. Deutch benefits from being the central focus, but her cutesy act gets tiresome quickly. Foy is competent, but her role too limited to have an impact.

An absolutely silly movie that at least has some eye candy to allow you to get through it in one viewing.

I want to appreciate the vague attempts to poke fun at the whole Supernatural YA genre. Unfortunately, everyone inolved seems completely bored with the film right from the beginning, and never really tries to do... well, anything at all with it. Lifeless, sexless, witless, and completely anemic.

A fun "buddy girl" movie with witty dialogue in the style of Diablo Cody. Zoey Deutch carries the movie with her charisma and comedic timing. The other actors are well cast, except for Olga Kurylenko as the headmistress. The sets, costumes, and special effects are well done. I'm surprised Vampire Academy did so poorly in theatres and wish there was a sequel. Apparently, the fans of the books did not consider it a good interpretation of the source material.

The director of Mean Girls needs to go back to school. Would I be using too many puns to say that this movie sucks or bites? Well, it does a bit of both. The dialogue was bad enough to burst a sparkly vampire into flames. Zoey Deutch is smoldering until she speaks, but let's be honest this movie is a terrible clone of Harry Potter and Twilight...

No real fucks given. I mean... it's nothing, really. Terrible dialogue, terrible acting, terrible action, plot points and antagonism out of nowhere, and just all-around limp. I don't know that I'm willing to call this "subversive", or "stupidly-self-aware-for-the-sake-of-being-self-aware". Did I mention how much the dialogue sucks and I hate it like poison? Yes? Good. Staring at Zoey for a hundred minutes was fun, at least. This is the very definition of "pass it"; you'll miss literally nothing.

If all of those amusements offer significant content problems for parents and would-be young fans to grapple with--and they do--would it be cheating to end this review by skipping over all the self-sacrifice and solidarity stuff and merely saying that Vampire Academy has high hurdles too? And that none of them are just academic? (pluggedin.com)

For the most part, I was entertained by what it had to offer. It somewhat subverts its generic inspirations and roots, it's moderately funny, and its mystery will likely surprise its target audience. It feels chopped up, like it's missing a few pieces, its action is bad, its dialogue is cringe-worthy, and it explains a lot of things about its universe that ultimately don't matter, but I wasn't bored and I can't say the promise of a sequel doesn't sound just a little enticing.
