An exploitation film without the exploitation. Where this film missed on its opportunities, Russ Meyer went and took them by storm and upped the ante on what potential this film could've had in his film Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

First hour, not so good. Second hour? Premium 60's Hollywood sleaze. Sure it's candy coated just like the pills but that's what makes it go down so easy.

Surprisingly square for a camp classic. The incomparable Helen Lawson is a fucking goddess and Neely O'Hara's meltdown is jaw droppingly hysterical but much of the movie is simply dull, sappy and dorky unlike Russ Meyer's delirious "sequel". Still a fun watch.

Entertaining in parts, and boring in others, this film is worth watching if you're in the mood for a truly camp classic. Patty Duke's hissyfits are completely over-the-top, while Sharon Tate shows that she was no great actress (how she was nominated for a Golden Globe for this I will never know!). But the dialogue is hilarious at times, and if Showgirls with drugs in the 60's is what you're after then you'll likely have a good time watching this.

An unsubtle and quite uninteresting look into the world of addiction, abuse and extortion within showbusiness. It comes across as feminist at times and then delves back into boring male gazey nothingness. It's also surprisingly homophobic.

There is little redeeming about this film. The plot drags, the characters are uninteresting, and their motivations are one-dimensional. It felt like watching a NASCAR race: Boring but you keep watching, waiting for a crash.

Way too long and plodding for this type of thing. Some great capital A acting scenes that are fun

So I guess I'm supposed to hate this, which makes the fact that I didn't fascinating to me. I genuinely enjoyed it. All two hours of it. Duke, Parkins, & Tate are highly enjoyable leading ladies who deliver solid performances, & there's definitely a low-key feminism running through the story that gives it a lot of intrigue. It's campy, sure, but it's also a fairly effective commentary on the cruel nature of show business & every character is interesting. Honestly, I don't see what's so terrible.

Honrem nosso senhor e salvador John Waters e me deixem em paz. BlurayRip RARBG.

Felt like an old-fashioned two-hour long soap opera. Patty Duke has her moments but this felt like it was created by a dinosaur, even in 1967

It's so moralistic in its comments about sex, drugs and fame, that it's almost impossible to feel anything for these girls -- neither pity nor excitement. Robson's Broadway/Hollywood tale might pose as a feminist picture, but its ideas look incredibly antiquate: Valley of the Dolls descends into a hell inhabited by three women that seem to hate men, sex and themselves. This is a 1967 film that was born old.

Worth sitting through this just for the guffaws elicited by Patty Duke especially. One of the great unintentional comedies.

I'm not sure exactly who this movie was made for... the majority of it is so tame and milquetoast I could hardly believe it--especially during the first half hour, which is almost nothing but musical numbers. But then it's dealing with some pretty heavy issues later on. The theme song is great, though, and I enjoyed seeing a movie about women that didn't act as if women are all the same, with all the same problems.
