Urs al-jalil

For the most part a very intriguing cultural portrait, and very well shot too. The characterizations seem pretty good for a film with so much going on and it mostly feels rather organic. Towards the end the film gets a little contrived for reasons I don't quite understand, and as everything turns dark the film becomes less interesting. A very good film that might have been even better with a stronger, and perhaps shorter, final act.
