Urban Legends: Bloody Mary

This was not necessary. I watched it, anyway. It was the mental equivalent of touching a stove burner repeatedly.

The straight-to-video sequel in the "Urban Legends" series is a delightfully terrible cheesy mess. I have fond memories of stumbling upon it on cable's "on-demand" streaming, where I went through the journey of being frustratingly disappointed as a fan of the series, then increasing angry with this cheap excuse for a horror movie, but then eventually began to come full circle and enjoy the movie for all its wonderfully bad CGI and its quirky old hippie side-character...but you probably won't.

Oh wow. I remember watching this years ago, coming here to rate it, and realizing that it was so bad it wasn't even worth me adding it to the Criticker database. Yet here it is now.. Can't remember exactly how bad it was, but it was so bad that whenever any of my friends who were present hear the words "Bloody Mary" uttered we share a collective shudder. And not because the film was scary.

I don't know why this movie was even made. The story is very cliche, and very weak. It has a few major plot-holes and doesn't even bother trying to make sense. There is no explanation for why Mary comes back or why she kills with "urban legends." The movie leaves several loose ends, as well. The whole thing seems to have very little thought or effort put into it, and it shows in every possible way.

Wow, just so far behind the second one --even the first-- that it is amazing.

a disgrace

Wow, this was pretty damn bad. The film features terrible CGI, a piss poor story, bad writing, decent acting, and one of the most basic see-it-from-a-mile-away plots ever. I did like the overused song though so there's that.

mary lambert directs this dtv threequel like a runaway train, god bless her; never boring!
