After Frances's seemingly happy San Francisco marriage ends abruptly, she goes into a funk. Urged by her friends to move on, she joins a bus tour of Tuscany where, on the spur of the moment, she buys a crumbling villa. She assembles a crew of oddballs and immigrants to repair the house; over the next year, as they work, she welcomes one of her New York friends who's pregnant and at loose ends, and she seeks love... A visual treat is in store as beautiful Tuscany, and all of Italy's most attractive assets are rolled out to seduce foreign viewers and mopey Diane Lane. Was the tourist board involved? The story tries to show the highs and lows of love, although it ends up molto sdolcinato. Probably best appreciated by lovelorn mid-30s women. Its glitches - the annoyingly perfect and no-expense-spared decor, and the ubiquity of English speaking Italians - are eventually overthrown by the film's feelgood spirit.

Great for the beautiful Tuscan Scenery. Poor for everything else, including the standard chick-flick plot and jokes.

So wholesome and sweet. ;_; So uplifting and beautiful. The main character is so believable and lovely and sympathetic without being a perfect marysue. Also rather funny as it is heartwarming. And a lesbian as a major character, who is well developed & endearing - just a normal person. And it's based on a true story. And it feels that way. It feel so believable, never too saccharine or naively idealistic.

Strikes the tone that EAT PRAY LOVE was going for – Lane is the whole show here, and she is wonderful as the middle-aged divorcee, bringing a zest and life to a screenplay that starts well, but soon becomes bogged down in the expected plots/subplots typical for the genre, especially during the mildly sludgy mid-section where a whole lot of plot seems to be happening at once. Beautiful Tuscan scenery makes it easy on the eyes; it never transcends its genre, but it’s a fun enough diversion.

Cope and compensation for sad blown out divorced white women having neurotic breakdowns in their 50s. How do you screw up a movie with Diane Lane?! You add too much navel-gazing neurotic sentiment.

Watched this after recommendation by a friend. Film follows Frances, who's life is on the point of important decisions. Finally there is only 2 good options: become a lesbian or go to the random holiday. The movie is showing what happens when to choose the latter option. That can happen' to anyone.

Very predictable but nonetheless very satisfactory comfort viewing. The Tuscan landscape and buildings are beautiful and Lane is convincing as the out-of-luck American looking for love in Italy. Sandra Oh is the friend we would all want in such circumstances.

I don't think this film offers something special to its audience. Good scenery from the village of Cortona, lots of stereotypes of Italians, lots of stereotypes of Italians that are missing as well, some lgbt story for the lgbts. Only the Polish is an interesting detail.

Ho-hum rom-com. It shows off the Italian setting decently, Diane Lane does well in her role. The rest of the plot and side characters are about as formulaic as you'd expect. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect.

Mostly delightful story about one woman's struggle to find happiness after divorce. Diane Lane is awesome and the story is interesting. While on vacaction, she takes a huge gamble to relocate to a new life, and in the process finds a group of people and a situation to care about. Nice scenery and a credible love story.

Made by and for middle-aged women, and the story is for the most part botox-ugly;
for the rest of us there's always a beautiful and charming Diane.L, but she's shining in the shadow of a shitty script.
*Preview*: #13#, exp-3*, popcorn, story, (reviews), Diane.L/7, R2.

The cinematic equivalent of a pretty painting. Inconsequential at all levels with a few pieces of scenery that are pleasant to look at.

Diane Lane is lovely, and so is the Tuscan scenery. The movie, however, isn't much more than pretty.
