A very interesting film from Ozon, with fine nuances performance by Rampling.

Sensitive tale of grief and denial. Not a vast amount of subtlety and at the end it felt strangely like I'd learned little from it.

Doesn't measure up - Don't think they developed any depth to the marriage relationship so sympathy for the widow is weak. Ma thinks she's looney. I agree.

It's dreary both naratively and visually. We never truly sympathise with the main character. The ways we are made to feel what the character feels at times feel silly and the refusal to let us truly understand grief feels not honest like in Three Colors: Blue or Maborosi but instead frustrating. It is by no means a bad film - the mystery of the whole thing is intriguing as is Marie's relationship with Vincent and the film certainly makes some bold decisions - but it's no Three Colors: Blue.

Clunky at times but mostly effective. I hadn't seen an Ozon movie for a while, I'd forgotten how much of a pleasure it is.

This is a somewhat unsettling film. Its quite subtle in its delivery and it features a good, solid performance from Charlotte Rampling as Marie Drillon. Its one of those films in which its what isn't said, rather than what is, that perhaps tells you more about the main characters thoughts/emotions. Its a good watch with a fairly moving ending and so I'd recommend this film.

BlurayRip no MakingOff.

Pretty decent movie that's "not really about a disappearance" a trope that can be traced back to Antonioni, but Ozon does a fine job with it.
