Otto Preminger's first Hollywood film! And he managed to craft what was expected to be a disaster to under budget and a surprisingly good film! Besides Preminger's eye, Tibbett himself managed to came out of it looking good. His voice and key musical scenes enhanced the experience. He didn't look like a romantic lead, but when he could belch out his songs in that grand operatic manner, he was the king of the scenes! This had enough good moments to feel satisfying.
