I met Eric Bogosian at a book store once and told him I loved him in Under Siege 2. I can still feel the look of disgust he gave me. This movie rules.

At this point I'm not entirely sure why I keep doing this to myself... Some sort of masochisme I wasn't aware of? Anyways, here we are... and yet again, it's a middle-of-the-road sluggish 90s action flick pulled down by its lead: The human embodiment of a jar of mayo left out in the sun too long.

A train! A train! A train! A train! Would you, could you on a train? I would not, could not on a train. Could you, would you on a boat? Yeah. No. A boat's good.

Steven Seagal does it again(Still don't know if that's a good thing though). It's rather funny than something else, and at times it's quite enjoyable just because you really don't need your brain to watch this.

So wait, the bad guy decides to use a train as his mobile headquarters as opposed to any other kind of vehicle, like a jeep or a semi, seemingly unaware that a train can only travel on fixed tracks. That being said, the government was so inept that it couldn't pinpoint the guy, not like the technology existed that the could, anyway. So why didn't he just, say, go to the ghost town to commit his chicanery? Why involve so many other people? Stupid villains never learn.

Despite Seagal's best efforts, this film kind of works really well as a Die Hard clone on a train. Just wish it wasn't necessarily Seagal in the central role (though Eric Bogosian and Everett McGill are incredibly watchable).

Viewed April 9, 2021. This low-rent sequel tries to recreate the formula of the first film by moving the action to a train. The things that made Under Siege seem cleverprimarily the way it turned Seagal into a likable heroare absent here, replaced by Seagal's ego and weird sense of humor. Every single character in this movie seems to know that Casey Rybeck is a legend; even the bad guys speak of him in reverent tones. It's fascinating to see Seagal's unfiltered idea of heroism.

Better than I expected, mainly thanks to the surprise appearance by Big Ed in an unlikely villain role. He's genuinely the highlight here, and while Seagal's character is just a blank slate getting visual pinfalls on everyone to hammer home how cool he is (his niece putting him over as twice as good as her dad was especially funny), he barely says anything in the last two thirds. It's funny how the linear structure of a train is ignored to make everything work here. 36th film of 2018.

Old school action films were dying by the mid 90's, so the solution was to come up with a gimmick (in the form of a 'unique' setting) AND throw tons of money at the screen in the hope that it would stick. Enter Under Siege 2 (aka Die Hard on a train), a completely pointless and overblown sequel with bad CGI that didn't look good at the time. Seagal reprises his role as Ryback and goes through the motions, while the villains are substantially weaker than Jones and Busey. For Seagal fans only.

Segal couldn't leave well enough alone and had to ruin the original, his only decent film, with this lame sequel.

Under Siege 2 is a pretty daft and unnecessary sequel. And although it's nowhere near as good as it's predecessor, this was one of the last Steven Seagal films that I enjoyed before the dreaded straight to DVD releases. All the characters are painfully annoying and completey forgettable. But for whatever reason I've watched this film several times and always seem to enjoy myself. The special effects are woeful but the fight scenes are decent and Seagal still looks in reasonably good shape here.

One of the hijackers calls a 4 year old crying child a bitch. An anonymous bidder pays 100 million dollars to have his wife executed mid-flight from space (cost-effective?). Other than being garnished with these awful people US2, is a lazy rehash of the original plot with less drive & production value. Some very harsh edits, inconsistent dialogue, implied knowledge of US1 and a cramped antagonist who is almost fun, but not close to Busey in drag teaming up with TLJ fun.

Better than I was expecting, but not as good as the first Under Siege. Many of the lines are very cheesy, but there are some genuinely imaginative action sequences and great camera angles to keep this film interesting.

To be honest, I prefer this to the prequel. Sure, the first had Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey in a dress, but it felt a little shackled into the form of a multiplex blockbuster and not allowed to be as ridiculous as it could have been. This has less of this problem, although it still has flaws, the most egregious being the annoying comedic sidekick. It also lacks the madness of some of the films by other staple actors of this genre.

Go figure. Who would have guessed that a sub-par plot, sub-par action sequences, sub-par villains, sub-par special effects and a train instead of a battleship would equal a sub-par movie? You know a movie is pretty bad when the best part of the DVD is getting the majority of Seagal's trailers for his other movies in the 1980's and 1990's to enjoy and laugh at. I miss Tommy Lee Jones. Why did Ryback have to shove his head into a radar console first movie?

This sequel to the Steven Segal action movie, Under Siege, takes the original, puts it in a different mode of transport, wraps a different bow on it and moves it up a notch. Some great action sequences and a thrilling ride along the tracks of one-two, knife to the wrist = win.

Steven Seagal's kung fu moves are so slow, even when they speed the film up (as they do so often in his fight scenes) he still looks like a reject from the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

Not a terrible sequel to 'Under Siege.' Seagal says even less in the same tone throughout, he has another sidekick about as annoying as his last partner, and the villain is rather lame, but the movie is kinetic and action packed, and for Seagal, it's not bad.
