It's not quite as good as the best seasons of Friday Night Lights, or fellow inspirational sports-doc Hoop Dreams, but it comes close. An emotionally-involving microcosm of the world of US High School football, driven by some wonderful larger-than-life personalities and the kind of passion you sometimes wonder even exists in the real world anymore.

The ultimate praise given to sports movies is always, "Even if you don't care about sport X, you'll care about these characters," and that's certainly true of Undefeated (I don't, and I did).

At times the craftsmanship is a little shoddy... but it's got depth, and power.

As a documentary, I quite liked it. Decently shot, emotional and well paced. The use of music got to me a little at times but not a major issue. As a white man saves black kids story, I'm quite torn and can't make up my mind. Have to see it again before I decide.

A very great sports documentary about a poor school in Tennessee who has never won a playoff game in their school's history. I thought that this movie had everything that a good sports movie should. Drama, excitement, ups and downs. The documentary didn't go the direction I thought it would by the end but I was satisfied. This also makes me wish it was football season already! The coach Bill Courtney seems like an amazing man to do what he did. I wish him the best of luck in the future.

Though this film was billed as a documentary about an underdog football "team," they only really focus on 3 players and the coach, reinforcing the age-old adage that there is no "I" in team...but there are plenty of letters more camera friendly than the second-string kicker. What I learned from this movie: Sports.

If only I coould be a fat white American football coach of a all-black problem child high school team. It's so ridiculous to throw oscars at documentaries like these

Felt it was fairly by the numbers and never at any stage was I heavily emotionally invested.

I was lucky enough to catch 'Undefeated' at the Toronto International Film Festival and it was one of my favourite films of the lot. The synopsis wouldn't have you believe it's anything but the typical sports drama, centred around a rag-tag group of kids looking to make good in life through football. Yet, it's much more than that thanks to the emotional punch to the gut this film centres around. You don't just root for the team as a group, but you pull for the individuals beyond the field.

"Makes a substantial emotional impact whenever coach Bill Courtney and his powerful words dominate a particular scene." - Glenn Heath Jr.
