Shockingly funnier than I expected, and Kyrie Irving is actually half decent as an actor. The entire crew in general does a great job. But can someone put more than 10 minutes of basketball in this movie next time? I expected a basketball movie, not a trash road trip shoehorned movie with basketball as a backdrop.

This movie takes hundreds of shots at humor and some of them work. The unlikely story is full of roll-your-eyes moments that sometimes subtracts from the enjoyment. Thankfully it has a fast pace with plenty of opportunities to catch something funny. Impressive cast. Good music and production quality. You might be able to watch octogenarians play basketball, but certainly never this well. It has equal amounts of fun and torment.

I didn't know Kyrie Irving could act. Shaq was way much better though. I love the way how this movie kept a connection between 60s and present day. Also they really tried to keep cliches out. And I think they made a great job. Yeah there were some of them but other things are more in sight. Lastly; I recommend you to watch it with your friends or family; not alone.

UNCLE DREW is for anyone who loves basketball and/or non-traditional star vehicles of dubious origin. This film knows exactly what it is--a comfortingly predictable low-to-middlebrow comedy--but is cunningly executed with enough surprises to keep the energy and enthusiasm high. It won't challenge you, but neither will it repel you, and it might just win you over with its unrelentingly earnest vibe.

I thought I was going to be watching a movie about uncle drew, not dax. But at times very funny.

In a film with 5 NBA athletes as its cast the worst part somehow manages to be the script. Recalls the foul scent of 2000's Jamie Kennedy at his worst. Completely unfunny, and somehow less complete than its commercial beginnings. BAD. Webber, Nate, and Shaq did well.

I kinda immediately felt turned off by this because I find Kyrie Irving's antics quite annoying in the real world, but without bias and judging it as a movie...this still sucks. It's kinda what I expected as it feels written by a 16 year old. I can only take so many slapstick jokes, shots at Shaq'a free throw struggles, and generally...just idiotic dialogue before I wanna bash my head into the wall. It's cool when I'm at the courts...but please keep it out of my movies.

It is what it is. I am still feeling the high of the Raptors championship win, so I am consuming all things basketball.

Not as funny as I thought it would be considering I loved the commercial series.

The idea of having a bunch of older basketball stars getting one last chance at glory is cool but the film makes the mistake of taking younger basketball stars and putting them in old man makeup. The actors act like they are old and it looks incredibly fake. This took me out of the film and I never really returned. The basketball game at the end is also surprisingly lacking in excitement. The final game in any sports film is supposed to be exciting but not here.

Viewed February 22, 2021. Any movie that has Shaq breakdancing is all right with me, and doubly so when that movie has him wearing goofy sideburns, but Uncle Drew is still a pleasant surprise - a funny meta-comedy about the NBA stars that appear in it that also doubles as a genuine, albeit completely saccharine, movie about what happens to those athletes as they get older.

It is kind of a cute idea, but it didn't work out. Kyrie takes himself too seriously (he has that problem in Basketball context too); he should have taken the cue from Reggie, Shaq and C-Webb on how to be in a goofy comedy. Shaq's make-up is great, so is C-Webb's. Shaq still is a mean dancer. Except for some arcane basketball references, it wasn't very funny and pretty disjointed. But it was good to see some basketball (I'm addicted to basketball) before the NBA bubble starts.

I never heard of the commercials before. I like sports comedies and this fit a lot of tropes. I liked the road trip angle. Dax wasn't that great of a main character. Shaq got some great references in about his free throws and Kobe. Tiffany Haddish and Nick Kroll did well. Would love to see a sequel. Fav scene: Uncle Drew's 1 on 1 game.

It's amazing how a corporate series by an NBA star with the same old story -- coach has been traumatized as a kid because his final shot was blocked -- can become such a vibrant, sympathetic sports film. Lots of good jokes and an overall sense of both hood film and road movie make this really worth watching.

1. Kobe is still a bitch and tried to snitch on Shaq 2. Miller is the best to never get a ring 3. It's funny that Kyrie is basically the opposite of Uncle Drew IRL
