The Stranger (1951) starts out exciting with Alfred Maurstad on the run from the cops, but then loses itself in a small town. Great first 30 minutes of suspense, then turns dull for an hour before the final moments ends it on a symbolic note. Has bits to offer, but so much more could have been done during the middle part to keep it alive.
