I suppose the twist at the end was that the gun-toting psycho on the roof WASN'T Charlton Heston.

Worst... police... effort... ever! Pretty ridiculous and full of characters who add absolutely nothing to the movie, but also cheerfully cheesy with one-liners like "I repeat, we lost the blimpcamera!" (yes, their main piece of intel on the maniac with the sniper rifle is a camera on a f-ing blimp!). Equally stupid and entertaining.

A testament to how slow and boring a football game is. Absolutely shocked at the amount of clothing layers this sold out LA stadium game is doing, I would die from the suffocating 70s polyester. The opening of this suggests a much more gruesome and scary film, the first sniping scene and the sniper slinking away is vicious. Then so much football happens and a hodge podge of characters show up so we can put faces in this giant crowd and huh Gene Rowlands is here and so is Cassavetes something

Theatrical cut. Almost day-in-the-life style with a nice ratcheting up of tension. Yes, it combines both America's love of football and love of guns. I have to wonder whether it skipped any motive or background for the sniper because of Charlton Heston's pro-gun background. The final line correctly points out the expected media storm combing through every detail of the sniper's life, but seems dismissive of those efforts to the point of shifting blame. Fav scene: pandemonium as expected.

While its treatment of subject matter is in questionable (sometimes even rancid) taste, film manages to be both engaging and quite suspensful, skillfully building a feeling of real dread for most of its length. Characters and characterisations are all stock disaster movie cliches - but the cast surprisingly brings weight and conviction, especially Heston as take-charge police chief. Climax is a superbly choreographed and executed panicked stampede, as good as any action scene I've ever seen.

BlurayRip RARBG.

Slow build to a really harrowing ending. Paced similar to Man on the Roof. One bitterly conservative rant comes out of left field at the end.

A convoluted implausible mess if you're solely referring to the screenplay, a fun time to be had otherwise.
