I gotta admit that the early scene in which Kate is deeply impressed by the concept of 3D scanning a tornado had me hoping for gourmet stupidity instead of just a competent but disposable old-school summer blockbuster that never quite took me by storm.

Never felt so patriotic and needing of a truck in my life. Dont think a truck would fit on Scottish roads but i can dream. Great country soundtrack and cast. The heroine was definitely bipolar in how she was a tv presenter to a young nerd to a emotional feminine girl to a nice country girl to finally a cute missus. It was a good story and very cool throughout. Can always be better though but still a good watch

The heroine changes whenever the plot or dialogue requires her to, and the lead male protagonists are so incredibly selfish and overbearing it was hard to care about the action, or the other characters, or even believe the injected jealousy drama. Some of the tornado SFX are pretty cool, but the writing is garbage, and mostly it feels like a direct-to-video retread of the original.

The tornado's are confusing and unintimidating, a garbled mess of disorienting handheld camerawork and phoned in cgi slop. And that's the good part. The subplots and backstories feel insincere and the tropy one-up-manship and carchases induce bored hatred. The carchasies, my god, the carchases, so many carchases! The soundtrack is an amalgam cooked by tonedeaf music supervision, mixing pretty good Williamsesque orchestral music with poppy country bangers and synthy trailer sludge

The story has zero creativity, the special effects are satisfactory, but in a world where I watch tornadoes on YouTube, this film has little to offer.

Hollywood writing just gets worse. How does this happen? How did someone get paid for this? I'm not angry, just bewildered. The fact that there are people who found this entertaining is wild, wild west to me.

More like a remake than a sequel, but still really fun. All the actors do a fantastic job, and all of the tornado action is really effective, especially in sound design.

Wether it’s the extremely illogical amount of suspension of disbelief, the performances of both Edgar-Jones/Powell, or the polish of the CGI and the action sets, Twisters is dumb schlocky fun that doesn’t require really any previous homework to enjoy the movie to it’s fullest potential. However, nothing here is remarkable in any sort of way and feels hollow due to the extreme liberties it asks you to take, and doesn’t really capture the gravitas or connection of its predecessor. Decent enough.

It's fine for an action blockbuster, but I felt nothing throughout most of it. It also reads as very conservative coded with all the *college educated people being nasty*. First one remains quite superior.

Effectively channels the adrenaline rush of the original film, while taking a unique thematic turn to focus on the effects these tornados have on local communities. I did like how there was some attention given to the devastating aftermath of the storms, rather than turning glamorizing tornados into a drug for adrenaline chasers. The dramatic subplots didn't really land for me, but the impressive storm effects are captivating and breathe life into a franchise we thought was done for.

Probably as good as a Hollywood blockbuster can be if it was painted by numbers and phoned in. I hate to say this might have been better with more tornadoes and less sympathy for the extras.

I haven’t seen the original in a long time, so it’s difficult to fully compare the two. It looks great and has some decent set pieces and mayhem. The attempt to focus on story and characters over ridiculous action would’ve likely been a good move if I cared about either, but the story was bland and the characters were mostly either boring or annoying. It’s not bad, but I really didn’t care for it aside from a few decent scenes.

A film with intense disaster action that smartly anchors itself in an earthy folk music-backed character study, from Kate’s opening peace in the field to terrifying tragedy to going back in the field; from emotional breaking point post-rodeo to heading home to conquering her fears as a true hero. The men’s arcs don’t work as well (a big bait and switch feat. douche and nice guy) but they’re mostly smoothed over by Javi’s redemption and the refreshing subtlety of the classic airport romance.

Twisters is a fun blockbuster that is part disaster movie, part country movie. It's a stretch to call it a sequel as there's no real continuity, making it more akin to a remake. The writing is fairly heavy handed, though corporate greed is a more despicable villain than terrorism or nature in this day and age. There are a lot of side characters, perhaps too many. Some dodgy CGI and a little bit too country for my taste, but moderately entertaining overall.

Not sure what it has to do with the original, only that this one has tornadoes too. No reference to the original characters or story or something like that. This movie is all right but nothing spectacular. It follows a pretty straightforward story line, you can see the 'twist' coming a mile away. Nonetheless decent Sunday afternoon fodder.

I am a huge fan of the first movie. The mood was always the big thing for me; the summer heat soaking you in sweat just before a storm, the sky turning dark, warm wind picking up. The sequel doesn't quite get there, but maybe it wasn't supposed to. It starts out on a similar note to the first one, but there is an interesting twist in character dynamics. Cool storms, but less intense scenes than the first one had.

Not as good as the 1996 version but still decent. It was nice to see them reverse the status quo with the leads and storm chasers. Also a decent evolution on the previous movie's ideas. Suffers more than the original in terms of realism. Music was bleh and also kinda lame that two of the guys simp for the heroine, but it could have been worse.

I was not too keen on the romance that seemed to take a lot of air time. The parts about caring for the towns after they were hit seemed a bit forced. But otherwise it is a good action movie, with surprisingly interesting bits of (I hope real) science in it too. It keeps you guessing and since your suspension of disbelief was left at the door, you can enjoy all the over the top destruction and raw force. I wanted to spook myself with tornadoes and it did the trick, tornadoes are scary as hell

It is a fun summer blockbuster with all the right parts to be successful. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glenn Powell are both likable leads who help provide the subplots necessary to carry the film onto the next big sequence. It was visually well done as well. A solidly entertaining movie from beginning to end.

Its serviceable summer movie fare, but doesn't live up to the hokey ridiculousness of the original. It takes itself pretty seriously and in that we are forced to also and its just not good enough on any level to rise above "not bad". Acting is mediocre to poor at times, CGI is OK, but sometimes poor on the actual tornadoes. I like the leads for the most part, but some of the "youtube" gang are unbearable at times. Bonus for several people who don't listen just getting sucked up.

This felt like a successful throwback to 90's blockbusters. It took the concept of an older flick and made it totally its own. It's well directed, has a good tempo and an interesting set of characters played by (mostly) fresh faces - Glen Powell being the standout. My biggest gripes were that as it tries to remain at least somehow connected to reality, it becomes a bit repetitive and could have lost 15 mins. Additionally, they try too much with the finale which ends up bordering on ridiculous.

Had some pull whenever going into a tornado, but the drama aspect was a waste of time. None of the characters were for me. But it's not like any of us was watching Twisters (2024) for the drama, anyway. They should have cut that bit in half so that it wouldn't have dragged so much. At least the action sucked you in.

It’s as if someone thought the original was otherwise fine but nowhere near bland enough: “Let’s remake it but with an unrecognisable and unmemorable cast, a soundtrack of royalty-free middle-of-the-road pop/country music, and a script so astonishingly dull it wouldn’t pass muster on a TV soap opera!” The effects hardly look like they represent 28 years of progress either. Never thought I’d catch myself pining for Helen Hunt; and why can’t the guy with the squinty eyes stop smirking?

I don't think it was great, but I don't think it was absolutely awful, either - it mostly was just trying too hard to be dramatic and impactful, when really a lot of it just comes off as very forced, silly, and over-the-top.

Way too much handwringing! I guess in a post-Man of Steel world, this was never going to be as pulpy as the 96 original, but to have the plot and characters driven so much by the tragedy and consequences of natural disasters is kind of a drag. Even the more freely detached tornado sequences are so reliant on CGI that they lack the visceral sense of destruction that was so effortlessly conveyed in this film’s predecessor. Still, Glen Powell is successfully proving his movie star chops once again.

You want action mayhem and it's just flat and ugly -- with the exception of the rodeo scene. Ten minutes longer than the original -- and not half as fun. I like the Americana vibes, Powell brings in a world of charisma and even Edgar-Jones' bland character clicks for me. But tornado-related material seems like a tamed down version of a wacky fun disaster flick. Too much expository "science"/climate change shit -- which is important, of course --, but close to zero weirdness or sense of wonder.

Surprisingly great, this is an absolutely perfect blockbuster. While the big plot beats are pretty predictable, the pacing is perfect, the two leads are perfectly cast, the effects work well, and the structure is spot on. Powell manages to pull off a role that could have been extremely annoying in the wrong hands. There's no real apparent growth from his character, but Kate's arc is satisfying if predictable. It might not be as strong outside of theaters, but I loved it there.

See it on the biggest screen possible. I saw it at the IMAX. Based on the first one I had high expectations and it didn't disappoint. It's a RUSH. The emotional aspects and political touches in the story are very successful. I felt the adrenaline and excitement to the core. One of the best disaster movies I've seen.
