Though not very great on its own, it's still the best film to feature the word "twilight"'in the title.

Prologue is neat, Landis' segment might be the laziest piece of moralistic bullshit of the entire decade, Spielberg's dreamy fable about old dudes wanting to be young also fails big, Dante's is by far the most imaginative and well-shot of them all and Miller's at least delivers some chills.

John Landis beats you over the head with a hammer, screaming "DO YOU GET THE CLEVER SUBTEXT ABOUT THE EVILS OF RACISM?????", Steven Spielberg pours a 55-gallon drum of treacle on your corpse, and then Joe Dante and George Miller show up and they get it and it's suddenly fun to watch, and then it's over and you're thinking, I wish I'd had more time with the last two.

Spielberg and Landis's segments are pretty crappy, George Miller's is decent, and Joe Dante's is extremely awesome. Seriously, you should get a hold of this movie and fast forward 70 minutes to see the craziness, just a taste: a young Nancy Cartwright gets banished to a cartoon world (much like what has happened to her in real life) before horrifying cartoons come to life in the real world, its so amazing.

John Lithgow's performance in "Nightmare at 50,000 Feet" just blows Shatner's away, and the updated "It's A Good Life" has some really cool set design and effects. Spielberg's and Landis's segments are iffy at best.

Filled with clichés, the subtlety of a sledgehammer and the enjoyment of watching paint dry. There were good performances though, and cool practical effects work, the puppets looked good.

Spielberg's story is out of place, and the only thing worth a poke (aside from a quite decent prologue) in this otherwise rather lousy effort is Miller's energetic plane ride with Lithgow in overdrive mode.

Nothing like original TV series, because most of these shorts by famous directors are total crap. However, I must say they did a good job with very promising prologue and the last part. I was especially curious about Spielberg's directed part, but it was actually the worst of all (one with old people). Overall, there are much much more comedy than in series.

Interesting movie.Four different stories by four different directors ala in the vain of the creepshow type of flick.Spielberg's story is utter trash.Bigger tragedy is the death on set by a crashing helicopter which beheaded Vic Morrow who was good in the first story as a racist bigot. Last story is the best in my opinion which has John Lithgow as a terrified and paranoid passenger on a plane who 'sees' gremlins outside tampering with the plane with everybody else seemingly oblivious to it.

remove the title and put a different one on it, and it stands proud on it's own two legs, it has some very intriguing stories, but doesn't hold up in spirit to the original series.

The first story was superb as well as the others. I loved the scrooge way of story telling with the first. The last one was a cyclical ending. The collection should have stayed serious with strong messages instead of making lots of different stories. The first was definitely the best of them

I know many people consider the entire film to be tainted by Landis's extreme negligence causing the death of Morrow and two children. I can't really disagree, and I don't blame Miller for leaving when he found out what happened. I don't personally feel like it taints all the work that went into the film though. That said ... Landis's segment does clearly taint the film by not being very good.

A mixed bag like most anthologies. Landis' version is impossible to watch without thinking of the associated tragedy. Spielberg's segment is dull. Dante's also misses the mark. Miller's is the obvious standout, but the intro is the most effective section and hints at what might have been.

My first time watching anything Twilight Zone related. Prologue: wtf? | Landis: Interesting, but too on the nose and goes nowhere. Sad what happened. | Spielberg: Shockingly the least interesting one here. | Dante: Didn’t love the ending, but it’s incredibly creative and was a lot of fun to figure out at first. Probably my favorite. | Miller: Wish it did more than the “are they crazy?” plot, but it’s an effectively scary concept, with some decent moments. Easy runner up for me.

Dante's entry is creepy, creative fun that's worth checking out; but Spielberg's offering is terrible and everything else just passes for "OK". It's also hard to shake a certain amount of discomfort, knowing the infamous context in which some of this was filmed. Considering the names involved in Twilight Zone: The Movie, it's surprising how average it turned out to be.

With one exception, the segments of this largely weak anthology film are too skimpy and insubstantial to be successful, instead inadvertently spotlighting their director's worst tendencies (Landis - harsh and ugly, Spielberg - cloying and sentimental, Dante - studiously quirky). Miller's segment, spotlighting some brilliantly sweaty and desperate work from Lithgow, ends the film on a pretty great high note, and it's hard to hate the shaggy dog Aykroyd-Brooks dream team segment.

As an Anthology film this is pretty weak. Time Out is awful. One of the worst stories I have ever seen. Kick the Can is very lacking in execution and doesn't do anything all that good. It's a Good Life has interesting visuals and puppetry involved, so it's alright. Nightmare at 20,000 Feet is worth watching. Simple, but the overall best due to John Lithgow. Two of the stories are rubbish, one is passable, and one is good. Regardless, that terrible tragedy dampens the movie somewhat for me.

The last two segments are so strong that they make up for the snooze fest that comes before. It's like Spielberg is doing a Spielberg impression. I could watch Dante's brand of humor all day.

It was my first live-action introduction to the Twilight Zone, The Simpsons was my first. It takes a handful of the most iconic episodes of the original series, inserts recognizable stars into the roles, and cuts down the story to the essential beats. 1/3 of the movie is completely original, Something Scary, Time Out, Even Scarier. They are quite good and sit perfectly alongside the greatest hits from the original series. It can serve as a good introduction to the series.

Me liking this movie is probably equal parts nostalgia and the hope that at least SOME Twilight fans bought this by mistake and watched at least as far as Scatman Crothers before realising that nobody was going to start sparkling. That said, the last two segments are by far the best of the bunch.

The prologue is just the right length, long enough to build a bit of ambiance but short enough not to wear out its welcome. The first segment is good but somewhat clumsy and overlong. The second is terrible sentimental hokum that doesn't fit the film. The third is very good, a bit funny a bit scary and just the right length. The final segment would be good if it weren't so one-note. Overall it's a very uneven film and while it's not a bad way to spend some time nothing here is must see.

This movie has some very good segments and some lackluster ones. The segments with the little kid and the plane are by far the best ones. The opening prologue is also fun. The intro is hilarious, I think I literally jumped, I love those moments! The first segment is great; the second one(with the retirement home) made me smile; as for the third, I simply enjoyed once again finding the source of yet another allusion made on "The Simpsons". The "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet"-Episode remake is well done and I'd say it's a tie between the original and this-I mean.. the monster simply isn't scary the way it is in the original, I couldn't help laughing when I first saw that
