This was right up my alley. Didn't care one bit for the YA remake, though!

Very good dialogue in the mold of old Hollywood film-noir. Novelist Richard Russo (author of *Nobody's Fool* and *Empire Falls*) has a gift for writing dialogue--snappy and often funny. The cast is pretty phenomenal and they do a good job of delivering the lines. On the other hand, something is missing--maybe the characters and their key relationships aren't developed well-enough; or the actors' performance sometimes misses the mark. Also recommended: *Nobody's Fool*

Fine to pass the time, but this cast really deserves more than that.

Twilight is a watchable neo-noir, although due to its repetitive and unsatisfactory nature, it's not necessarily a must-watch. It's missing that emotional connection which would help us through the slow moments. Our minds are constantly working, attempting to figure out who committed a crime -- if anyone did -- but the payoff is much less enjoyable than you hope. It's a good film that will pass the time, even if a couple of key choices stop it from getting a full recommendation.

This movie has some slow spots but there are also several interesting moments. The movie has a top notch cast and they all do good work in this movie. Overall I would recommend this film.

Twilight is an underwhelming thriller that even at only 90 minutes long still feels drawn out and rather dull. I solely gave this film my attention due to the inclusion of the great Paul Newman. But it's bittersweet that he is the films only saving grace. Sadly it's somewhat disheartening to see such a genius of an actor having to perform alongside such an unengaged supporting cast. Susan Sarandon is the exception and disappointingly at times Gene Hackman feels like a spare part.

There's very little neo about this noir; that is, it adheres so strictly to established conventions that it lacks any sort of creative wit or elevating power. All of the tropes are present, and even the text is a stagey vernacular. I do wish they would have just gone all the way and filmed in black and white. But if you're in the mood for this sort of thing, it's well-played.

A bunch of good actors in the twilight of their career star in this kinda dull but decent mystery/thriller.
