The fact that this is based on stories written well before modern horror tropes came into existence made this inherently interesting to me. It's more like Serling's Twilight Zone minus the twists, where humans encounter something extraordinary but he's not necessarily interested in scaring you. This spares us alot of the long tracking shots meant to instill "suspense" but I often find dull. It's easy to see why Gables is the big hit bc it's the only one w/ all good/bad characters & happy ending

Surprisingly sophisticated in both its simplicity and its narrative. Although this really only applies to the first two tales, the third tale is a rather standard mediocre ghost story, but the first two are very interesting takes on the macabre.

Only the last tale attempts to be scary or horror related. The others are quite tragic. Solid anthology with Price doing his usual thing.

Longer than it should be, but worth a watch for Vincent Price fans.

The first story was very good and the rest were just boring.

Not bad, the first 2 stories being decent the 3rd not so much but overall worth a watch.

Wonderful! All three stories are excellent! Yes, that's right! Even the second one!

I wish this had more humor that would have made this much better. It's played too straight but was too campy to really be good or at least fun without more humor.

Great costumes and sets, but the movie is dreadfully dull.

I cannot in good conscience raise this score any higher [despite the presence of Price and a well done third entry]. The second story is really miserable and brings things down too much. Actually, all three stories have some ridiculous aspect but it's just too much in the middle.

Solid horror anthology that's more obscure than it deserves to be
