Troop Zero

Seemingly from the same indie quirk orbit as 2017's "Permanent" -- if you liked that one, you'll probably dig this as well. Grace's goofball grin pushes the concern that much nearer perihelion around a familiar misfit star, though our scouts might here benefit from a big box of Space Depends. 'Mount wee unto the sky!' Cutesy enough on its own merits, but there's no new ground being covered.

Lightweight, but life affirming, well made, and extremely well acted. Davis was great, the child acting surprised me, and Gaffigan surprised me even more.

W3E1P1S0V1M1A0R1. Nice message, great child actors, and a few good laughs, but a really dull and hackneyed plot, an unwatchable Jim Gaffigan, and underdeveloped adult characters. Just felt like they started with a blatant mishmash of Troop Beverly Hills and Little Miss Sunshine, then made a series of (all bad) plot choices to make it less obvious.

This one didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Felt a little forced. However, overall is was somewhat entertaining. Think The Bad News Bears (but with girls, and as girl scouts instead of little league baseball players).

I thought it started off pretty slow, but it redeemed itself by the end. A few laughs, but mostly a drama.

Surprisingly funny, some good jokes for kids but then some for adults as well, such as "little girls creep me out, plus you can't hit them because they changed the laws." A lot of credit to the assemble of little kids here who really brought this to life in a convincing fashion. Davis, despite being an important character, was a tad underused, which is a shame because every time she was on screen was a delight. Also didn't wimp out at the end and had the kids actually lose, like Rocky.
