You can group as many Mexican gangbangers together as you want, all I see are angry colouring books. I paid for a senior ticket for this and I felt more tension and dread waiting for the teenager behind the counter to rip the ticket than anything the movie offered. This needed to be nine hours longer and spaced out every Thursday @ 8 on a channel that can show nonsense.

Reminded me of Pusher. Great action, raw, mysterious. Very physical.

A lackluster version of a great movie. It has enough similarities to the tense crime productions I really enjoy (Training Day, The Wire, The Departed, etc.) that I got a kick out of it. But there isn't a lot of substance to back it up. The characters are well-acted but one-note, and the story seems to proceed with no real direction except the knowledge that most of the characters have to die by the end, as the genre dictates.

For the cast involved and the potential it had, this was a major disappointment. Felt like everyone involved was a little underwhelmed and mainly "phoning it in". Not that I blame them, because the plot is not exciting or anything new. In fact, you can almost predict what happens before it happens, and that means that you're not engaged enough. I wouldn't bother with it.

Unfortunately average. While its tension and tone are both very solid, Triple 9 has an unfortunate lack of character development, and for that fact, interesting characters. The acting is by no means bad, and Hillcoat's direction holds up quite well, but Triple 9 felt a little to big for its britches, calling in an all-star crew to not do much of anything. I'm underwhelmed but nonetheless I was fairly entertained.

Oh, what could have been, ends up being your standard well made, but forgettable cop film. It's a shame really, as the director is quite competent, and the casting is top notch, but the only redeeming scenes from this are the heists and the apartment raid. Everything else is cliched and ho hum.

There's not a lot going on under the surface, it doesn't give its talented cast a lot to do, and it reminded me a lot of Training Day -- but I can't deny that it's a fun little genre piece that entertained me. Sometimes that's enough; not every movie needs to have a lot depth. On a side note, I'm pretty sure that everything I've seen Aaron Paul in involved him crying for most of the duration.

Triple 9 (2016) only becomes a bland experience where you end up not caring at all for what goes on. If only they had as much talent behind the camera as they had in front on of it.

This isn't a movie about the subtle, tender or even sometimes tattered nuances of father-son communication. No, Triple 9 is a brutally profane, wincingly violent thriller that pretends to plumb the depths of moral ambiguity even as it unflinchingly assaults us with the story of mostly bad men and one seriously bad Russian woman doing outrageously bad things. A film that has done before yet is still quite enticing during its first half - like a condensed season of The Shield - but the third act is so convoluted that it pretty much soils any potential.

This is is just bad filmmaking to go along with such an unoriginal premise I'm surprised it even got made. Ejiofor was trying out there but they gave him nothing. Also, wtf was Kate Winslet attempting to do in this thing? Another mediocre Hillcoat movie

WTF? This movie came out of nowhere, with no marketing at all that I saw. It's one of the best realistic action movies in a long time (baring the flat ending), outstanding cast (with Kate Winslet being way out of her wheelhouse and almost unrecognizable), and a very tight script/story, though the dialogue is nothing special. Judging by the audience, it's not a chick flick.

Triple 9 is a film that feels like it's missing a purpose and a point. Or maybe it's just missing someone who cared. You can feel a lack of energy, and a lack of reason to exist, through almost every frame of the film. It isn't telling a good story, it doesn't have interesting characters, it doesn't have anything to say to the audience, its shock factor comes not from the actions but from the slightly surprising timing, and there's nothing exciting enough to keep the audience from nodding off.

Triple 9 is one of the best examples of wasted potential. It’s cast alone should elevate even the most basic genre film, but it’s so painfully dull & uninteresting on any sort of narrative level. It’s a very safe thriller that doesn’t really do anything substantial in any sort of direction, good or bad, to really distinguish itself in the sub genre itself. That’s ultimately so much worse, because one way or another this film should be entertaining, and it isn’t somehow.

I guess this is the ditch John Hillcoat would eventually fall into. A convoluted script with a clueless direction. Man, this was so dull.

Crazy talented cast. I really love heist movies and also the kind of movies where people's allegiances are not always entirely clear. Despite the stellar cast, Triple 9 remains kind of mediocre. It doesn't really grab you with its plot and I feel like the pacing was off at times. Also Kate Winslet, why is she here? Her character really bothered me by being so bland. I guess ultimately felt like the script should have utilized the entire cast better.

Less than average. No one's performances shine, nothing about the story stands out, even the action is just passable. Winslet's character is so one-note it's ridiculous. Every scene with her and Ejiofor it's "the only reason I don't kill you is my sister likes you". He even calls her out for threatening him while he's in the process of doing exactly what she wants; what's the purpose? Sadly, there's little of that to be had here.

Kötü polis filmi. 9 kişilik 1 ekip 1 bankanın gizli kiralık kasasını çalar. İsrail-Rus-FBI arasında bir çatışma olur. Kate Winslet'ın Madonna olduğu film. Aaron Paul'un karakteri zorlama olmuş. Polis aktörlerimiz iyi. Yalnız çok uzun ya. Filmin sonunda, herkes birbirini vuruyor. Uyurken çarşaf açılmış.

Lacked depth in characters, especially considering its cast, but the action scenes were good. It just lacked a depth to make us care for its characters and their motives.. With a better script, it could've been a modern classic.

Probably would have worked better, if you gave a shit about the characters. Or if it wasn't so full of silly clichés and cheesy acting. Or if the characters weren't such morons. Or pricks. Maybe the movie's just trying too hard to be tough, extreme, macho and badass, I don't know...maybe the issue's structure. The build-up for the main plot took half the movie and the interesting stuff came a little short. WAIT, WHAT IF IT'S BOTH...I MEAN ALL OF THOSE THINGS????!?!?!? :o :o :o :o

Murky, ugly crime film squanders a terrific cast on a set of mostly interchangeable, one-dimensional villians -- Harrelson fares best (and at least seems to be enjoying himself) but the rest of the cast seem faintly bewildered. Convoluted plotting can't hide the fact that this same basic story has been told before and with more style (see THE DEPARTED, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL et. al.). Opening heist sequence is genuinely viscerally terrifying and thrilling - and is the highpoint of the film.

A stellar cast does not always prove to be the sole ingredient to make a memorable flick. The only character I cared for was Afflecks. The rest were interchangable men who found themselves down the creek without a paddle. There was no real sense of urgency within the films plot structure and nothing was unpredictable like it easily could have been. A chance squandered when your film is being backed by the names listed on that DVD cover.

Movies about Bad Cops need to do more for me than just point and go "hey, look at the Bad Cops! ain't those Bad Cops baaaad?" This movie does not do that. Instead it overdoses on the Kool Outlaw Factor, with all these bad cops and their gangster friends chewing lots of gum and squinting moodily at each other. It's extraordinarily tiresome.

Corrupted cops becoming puppets for Russian mobsters provides a great backdrop for this ominous crime story. They carry out bold robberies at a bank & homeland security safe house. Casey Affleck was terrific, as was Anthony Mackie & Chiwetel Ejiofor. Surprisingly, Woody Harrelson & Kate Winslet, not so much. Gal Gadot was hot. The gritty plot was a little sloppy but fast paced. Excellent music & production quality. A rather lack luster ending.
