Worth watching as a time capsule, but some of the scenes drag and the nature of the plot is fairly surface.

A charming story with two likeable protagonists - Campbell, in particular, is very touching as the sweetly awkward Gabriel - undermined by increasingly contrived situations and some seriously stupid supporting characters. Still, it's hard not to feel something by the end.

The plot was good, but when the story became better it ended abruptly. Was it the director's way of making the viewers want for more? If it were, it failed. Instead of creating a feeling of asking for more, you sneered away feeling tricked. MY SCORING: 99-96=Great; 95-90=Very good; 89-85=Good; 84-80=So-so; 79-70=Boring; Below 70=Forget it.

I was pretty caught up in this meandering series of performances strung together. Frequently unexpected & kind of giddy with an incredibly cute nervous little boy as the lead.
