Trent's Last Case (1952) is a interesting one. The main problem is that the pace is too slow. While it's got great actors interacting, it feels like a stand-still for so long. Until Orson Welles surprisingly shows-up in a flashback scene. Stylishly shot and there is still suspense lurking. You just got to be a little patient for it to be rewarding.

Middling mystery/procedural starts very well, with a nicely wry performance from Wilding, and the initial set-up of the mystery is engrossing enough. Mid-section becomes *very* dry and talky, only to be energised again by a late-in-the-game boost of energy by scene (and movie) stealer Welles. Unbelievably tidy and sappy 'happily ever after' resolution unfortunately mars the overall impact and quality of the film.
