Since she was a child, it's been drilled into Amy's head that monogamy isn't realistic. Amy lives by that credo -- enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment -- but in actuality, she's kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she's writing, a charming and successful sports doctor, Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something. Schumer is pretty unlikable holding back what was even a mediocre Apatow vehicle. Most the jokes are baseline, cliche and phoned in. Colin Quinn was surprisingly the best thing about the movie. Never thought I'd say that.

Judd Apatow is a bad filmmaker. I said it. He knows how to assemble a talented cast, but he has absolutely no ability to construct anything competent out of the footage that falls in his lap. The eulogy to Amy's dad feels like it belongs in a better movie, or at least a better version of this one. I'd like to see someone edit all of Judd Apatow's films with an actually critical eye and the ability to leave redundant, lame improv on the cutting room floor.

It's a good thing Schumer can write funny (even when its crass) for the 1st 2/3rds bc things degenerate pretty quickly in the final act as either Apatow or Schumer decide to ignore everything distinctive that came before & rigidly adhere to rom-com rules, which means you'll be impatiently tapping your foot as you wait for the leads to fight, split up & get back together again. The ending's so ridiculous and out-of-character that it seems to have been lifted from a Katherine Heigel film

A movie so detached from reality that it's offensive and sends a pretty dangerous message to women. Amy actually believes that this life she concocted is a possibility for her. Newsflash: fat, ugly, alcoholic cumdumpsters do not end up with doctors. Guys: don't be like Bill Hader in this. Oh, it's ok that you have fucked hundreds of guys, it's ok that you are a drunk, it's ok that you're fat. No bitch, it's not. I fucking hate people who think like this. Trainwreck tries to win me back with several Billy Joel songs in a row and it's toooooo late Apatow I checked out hours ago. I don't understand why Hader's character falls for Amy other than she slept with him the first time they met. Sport jokes hit foul for me. "It's the third act so we have to find a reason to fall apart but don't worry we'll end with a montage and that'll lead to act 4 reconcilliation. 'That's the best ending you can come up with" Nothing in that movie felt earned SOURED

The best part about Trainwreck is its supporting cast and the variety of ridiculous bit roles: Tilda Swinton as Amy's hilarious boss, Ezra Miller as an immature sexual deviant, John Cena as Amy's closeted boyfriend, Lebron James as Bill Hader's relationship mentor, Colin Quinn as her polyamorous Mets fan father, and the list goes on. Unfortunately, the overarching narrative is saccharine and dumb, and the jokes are usually on the nose and easy. Not Schumer at her best but still watchable.

We need to have a talk with Judd. There's no reason for his films to extend beyond two-hours, especially when it adds nothing to the film. This film feels like a string of loosely connected threads. There are some funny moments, but it's a borefest. Amy Schumer, who has one of the funniest sketch shows on television, is playing more of an idea than a character. She gets together with Hader because the script demands it, and not because the two have any chemistry.

Two hours - TWO HOURS - of romcom cliches that never know if they're supposed to take themselves seriously or ironically, and enough sports cameos to make me realise just how unfunny Spinal Tap must look to people who have no interest in music. Schumer and Hader are good comedians, but they're given maybe 20 minutes' worth of worthy material here.

Man, the first hour is funny - Schumer's plot is weak but script is strong - but it has Apatow's typical shortcomings. It's too long (by about 10-15 minutes here), the happy ending is a bit forced and it makes the mistake that all improv is funny improv. But it's still very likable and winning, and pretty much everyone with more than six lines gets at least one good line, which makes it more than worthwhile. There's a surprise MVP... AND HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA!

Remember that manchild bullshit Apatow has been shoving down our throats for years? Well he's finally pulled the ol' switcharoo with the protagonist's genitals and introduces us to the womanchild, in a film loosely based upon the comedic persona of America's favorite "empowered" whore, Amy Schumer. The heart and sole of which is nothing more than an airbrushed chick-flick-rom-com that relies on pussy and queef jokes. Trainwreck begs to be flushed down a toilet with the rest of the genre.

A lot of great gags and a whole lot of filler. Some cameos are well executed (Cena, LeBron) while others like that whole intervention scene should have been removed entirely. The laughs rule the day, and because they're aplenty the movie works well enough. But the entire relationship at the center of the movie is dubious at best...or at least not sold properly. Length is probably right, but at least 15 minutes needs to be shaved and then distributed to better develop the Hader-Schumer romance.

Occasionally very good, hitting the mark more often than it misses. There's maybe a bit too much reliance on improvisation which feels unnatural in context, and some scenes could benefit from trimming. Schumer is a funny and somewhat relatable lead (at times), effective at delivering the required crudeness, although she suffers from the haphazard focus of the film. John Cena's antics created the most laughs for me, which may be telling, and I didn't recognise Swinton until the end credits.

No surprise apatow puts a bunch of hilarious people together, gets some great jokes, but then seems afraid to edit anything that gave him even a smirk out and makes a movie so long that as much as i laughed I'll probably never ever watch it again. Schumer gives a good cry when the dramatic bits hit but thats the only good thing to say about apatows melodramatic side. John Cena is a reason to watch this movie.

Amy Schumer is like a Renée Zellweger for guys. Slightly chubby (by Hollywood standards), awkward and charmingly honest, plus she got dirty jokes that boys would appreciate more. Though most of us would prefer it if her breasts was as big as her cheeks. Either way, I found her funny in Trainwreck (2015). Plus it had John Cena as a slightly gay muscle-brain heterosexual. And seriously, how many movies are you gonna find a Koko B. Ware referance?!

Amy Schumer is a very funny stand up comic. This movie examines what must be subjects close to her heart, & perhaps provides some insights into what fuels her comedic genius. A free spirit that longs for a stable life. She falls for a great guy, but her fear of failure nearly becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Not as humorous as I expected, but her characters are real, engaging & believable.

While the actors themselves are pretty funny in this when they have the chance, the movie has minimal plot, no momentum, and not much of an arc. This is storytelling 101 and this film seems content to cash in on the reputation of the names attached while delivering what is essentially a very traditional rom-com without a tight script. I hope Schumer's next film is better.

This movie although follows the traditional romantic comedy cliches feels different because it's a romantic comedy with the genders reversed. Also being really funny and great acting by Amy Schumer helped too. Mostly the main problem is with the inevitable couple fight being so poorly done and dragging on too long. I consider myself a big Apatow fan, but I think he needs to challenge himself more with the scripts he takes on. Too much of the comedy centers around jokes about celebrities and movies. Now I know that's an easy way to relate to the moviegoers who're watching his movies, but it has become too simple and too ubiquitous with all the Apatow movies and their imitators.

Trainwreck, at least in terms of content, is just that--a careening, cataclysmic disaster loaded with stuff that no one should really ever want to see but, once there, is hard to turn away from. Sure, you can find some positives here, just as we can find inspiring stories in the midst of real-life disasters. But that doesn't keep you from wishing the disaster never happened in the first place. (pluggedin.com)

While I know this certainly wasn't John Cena's debut in front of a camera, this is easily his breakout work as an actor, as he is nothing short of hilarious. I'm not much of a fan of Amy Schumer's stand-up or her TV show, and there are aspects of this movie (ie. the magazine) that are too one-note and whose comedic effect wear off way too quickly. That said, there are LOTS of laughs to be found here. Bill Hader is a perfect partner to play off of. It's among my favorite pure comedies this year!

While it commits the sin of being very formulaic, it is funny enough where you will often either not notice or not care. It makes use of it's great supporting cast, giving most everyone at least one funny line. Swinton, Quinn, Birbiglia, Park, and Glaser are the standouts of the supporting players, and this film makes great use of the non-actors John Cena and LeBron James (James did feel a little over exposed by the end). Very enjoyable.

One of the funniest romantic comedies I've seen in ages. Amy Schumer completely owns the movie, with most of her lines hitting just right. The cast is great as well, with scene stealing moments from John Cena, Lebron James and Tilda Swinton. Yet, I have slightly mixed feelings on the way it plays out, simply because it becomes a very routine rom-com complete with the usual tropes. Fortunately it is funny enough that I'm okay accepting the predictability of the plot.

"Trainwreck" stands out as a romantic comedy with a refreshing twist. Instead of the typical playboy tamed by the right woman, it's the woman who learns about wanting monogamy with a man. While some scenes didn't hit the mark humor-wise for me, overall, it was funny and worth watching.

Fitfully enjoyable Apatow comedy has its head on straight, but Schumer's screenplay is a lurching, ungainly mess, taking wide swings from broad, abrasive comedy to poignant low-key self-examination; something of an irony that everything clicks into place during the incongruous third act which at least gives the film a strong finish. Most successful when it doesn't try so hard, especially during the toing and froing between Schumer and Hader. Shout out to an unrecognisable MVP Swinton!

It's pretty bad & hard to understand why the doc would bother. I've known actual doctors so lacking in discernment that married even worse people, but those women were nurses. I'm not saying worse because she's promiscuous, but because she's promiscuous, emotionally troubled, not terribly rich, not especially intelligent, AND unattractive, without any great ethical convictions or empathy for fellow man. Bill Hader character's worst flaw seems to be his devotion to her. Not unrealistic, but dark.

The cameos are very good, Colin Quinn is actually a highlight, and I was really happy to see Bill Hader in a major headline role (though he's much better in the Skeleton Twins). I love how the movie is a trainwreck itself: full of the same Apatow qualities for cameos -- I love Marv Albert narrating the intervention scene with Matthew and LeBron -- and self-indulgent, sarcastic jokes about race and sex and dating -- that Dogwalker screening scene was awesome. Amy brings something new, not just by setting this in NY and the sports themes, but embracing a romcom default in its final quarter -- one might see it as too comfortable, but it's just a laid back way to finish it.

There was so much about this movie that was so good. The comedy was amazing; I found myself laughing so much. It reminded me of the older Apatow movies that made me roll in the aisles when I went to go see them. This time Amy Shumer was the one who brought the secret sauce and let Apatow get a little sniff.

There were some funny lines, but nothing truly hilarious. It's just way too long - they should've cut a good 30 minutes out. A letdown from Schumers show. Too long (Apatow!) and weirdly unfeminist. In the end Amy gets punished for her sexlife (sleeping with a co-worker, buuh!) and has to turn herself into a men-pleaser, to be "mature". Yes, sex is no something exclusively for men, I get it. But no, in the end Schumer "learns" that she should want the life of her boring, sterile sister?! Thats just wrong. In the end Schumer comes up with Zellweger-solutions. Trainwreck is a mixed bag. There are some very funny scenes; but more often than not jokes miss their mark, are overdrawn, or are all together unfunny. As a romantic-comedy, it fails as you never really "root for the couple". As a comedy it's mediocre, with the first act having plenty of laughs before the drama slowly pulls the plot along. In any case Schumer does a great job, and manages to come across a both irritating and adorable; Hader is decent, and LeBron is surprising watchable.

I guess this is one of those comedies where instead of jokes we just have obnoxious characters. I expected better.

With essentially zero chemistry between the two leads, its tough enjoy this anymore than its occasional funny quips. Xena and the host of other cameos are pretty funny.

Even though that particular scene is far from my taste of comedy, the John Cena sex scene was single handedly the best/funniest scene in this movie. *Bad

Just awful. Sorry, Amy Schumer. I did not get it; nothing like your stand ups. A big let down instead. Could not see it till the end. So awful.

Above-average romantic comedy with a nearly-unique viewpoint, but it's far too loosely composed, with the Apatow slice-of-life perspective, to live up to what it could be. I recommend it, but it's disappointing knowing how talented of a writer Schumer is and then seeing this. Cena is worth the price of admission alone, though.

It started off great but the last third just fell into full on cliches and ruined the goodness.
Cameo's were awesome and it took me till the credits to make sure if that was Swinton or not, turns out it was :)

Trainwreck is basically a romantic comedy, which is neither romantic nor funny, but has all the other ingredients. Plus crying and stuff. And that awesome cheerleading thing at the end.
It's way too long, has way too many clichés, way too much uninspired improv, expositional dialogue and lacks the emotional core of Apatow's last two movies. Well, in the first half. At least Schumer, Hader and Larson really made shit work.
And tempo, it lacks tempo, also.

It was a bit annoying to watch Porky face and Dexter lookalike for 90 minutes but this story needed those characters. Pretty okay for a Sunday flick!

Me saying this movie was a trainwreck would be funnier than any single moment in this entire heap of shit.

Amy's smart and refreshing comedy is the only thing done perfectly. Too many hands in the pot ruin it however with terrible pacing and the other half of the comedy being bland and tired. They should've given Schumer complete creative control.

I don't know if it's the shock talking, but the John Cena scenes were the funniest things I've ever seen

I wanted to like this better. I had high expectations and this was rom-comier then I thought it would be. interesting to see Bill Hader as a leading man.

Trainwreck will be a breath of fresh air to rom-com lovers who are used to seeing women desperate to find a man. Trainwreck also has emotional depth as well as comedic elements - this gives Amy Schumer the opportunity to shine very brightly and could land her a few awards nods. Despite being overlong and a little bit cliche and generic (especially when it comes to camera choices), Trainwreck is still one of the best comedies of the year.

Rom-com nearly at it's peak: raunchy (over the top, but not overdone) and heartfelt, filled with hope and sympathy.

Why do all comedies these days have to exclusively feature characters that are this hard to swallow? The self-destructiveness of the main character is overdone and completely unrealistic. Gets better throughout and overall it was enjoyable and probably the best comedy of the year.

The structure of this film is what felt the most off to me. The first act used all the usual cliches and the second act dragged on for so long, there really wasn't even a climax at all. And for the first time in my entire life I can say Lebron James was my favorite part of something.
