So many comics and so few genuine laughs! What worked better was the the more sentimental angle as Bing Crosby's love triangle gets complicated. And of course with so many show people in a show film they have a bunch of show numbers. The one I enjoyed the most was Jack Oakie & Richard 'Skeets' Gallagher's little drunken tumble! That was a great example of stage slapstick! And there are quite a few Crosby songs to satisfy the Bing fans.
