Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn

A painfully bad production, made even worse by its adaptation of a classic American novel, and worse still by the realization that the poor production is not a result of securing the rights for the story because it's in the public domain. So where did the money go? Hell if I know, but it didn't go to Val Kilmer's bank account, he seems to be an extraordinarily cheap commodity these days.

They made better versions of Mark Twain's stories almost 100 years ago. Might beat those deservingly forgotten early 1930 & 1931 versions, but not by far. This lacks attachment to any emotional connection between the characters and their situations. Though there are moments where it did capture some glare of what made Twain's stories so special. Oh, and Val Kilmer is in here for a easy paycheck. Barely, and is not recognizable under his what looks like a 10-min Mark Twain make-up job.
