Time Lapse starts out with a great premise but before too long gets distracted and goes in every which direction. It eventually wants to make sense of it all, but it doesn't. It's scatterbrained and goes out with less of a bang and more of a whimper. And yet, it's fairly engaging, usually thrilling -- and that premise buys it a lot of good will. It works in the moment, even if you might get tired of what it has to offer before it ends. A 90-minute cut might prevent that. And a script re-write.

Shallow Grave WITH TIME TRAVEL! And, unfortunately, with characters who don't seem to give a toss.

Could have been good with a better director and better actors! The story in itself is good but there are so many flaws in it. Why bet on a dog race when you can just win the lottery once without any consequences? No, let's make some small bucks on a dog race with a crazy bookie paying the bets! These things annoyed me too much to take it serious!

If you can ignore the retarded money-making scheme (there are better ways and bigger pots...) Time Lapse is an interesting time-travel thriller.

Takes a great premise and then takes the road well traveled, instead of trying something new. It's interesting since both the beginning and end were the best parts, but I could have done with out the predictable middle. Might have been better suited as a 30 minute Twilight Zone/Outer Limits episode.

It doesn't fully make sense, but it's a movie that focuses more on the characters than coherence anyway. It kept me engaged throughout.

This movie is one of those clever films that is rampantly misunderstood, despite the great deal of nuance that went into devising this meticulously-constructed philosophical analogy. This film devises a crucible within which the major strategies to life meaning are pitted against one another: money, love, art, and (tangentially) science. It handles the elaboration of the plot brilliantly, all the while toeing the "inescapable determinism" party line. A bonne bouche.

An interesting concept ruined by cliche characters and plot points - not to mention the soap opera feel to it.

If its remotely related to time travel I usually watch it. The premise was not bad, but tons of stupid and annoying character decisions made this quite hard to watch.

Much better than expected. All three main actors do well enough and all the character dynamics are very believable. It's also one of the rare time travel stories that makes, enough, sense within its own terms. The subplot with the gangster felt unnecessary, but everything else worked, including the climax.

Wildly creative, but plagued by a confusing narrative and some amateurish acting. Still quite enjoyable tho, and I'm sure the plot makes sense if you really break it down and examine it.

In the glut of recent movies to deal with the paradoxes of time travel, this ranks somewhere in the middle – unexplored is the unusually literal way the characters embrace a complete deterministic view of the premise: it must be true, because the photos say so! Incorporating elements of the snowballing crime film, this is barely credible, but still a lot of fun for time-travel hounds; performances are fine to middling, though Spisak brings an intriguing Christian Bale energy in support.

Top badass moment? Even Apple's top of the range iPhones don't have one of those. With characters that, to put it bluntly, are pretty stupid, this could have been distressingly awful. What about the lottery, it barely warranted a discussion? Or for that matter why not just take Ivan’s offer of 5%; it’s not like you'd need to do much for it? But it has a great premise, a good soundtrack and the camera emits a really cool base drop when it takes a photo. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

I can overlook the porno acting considering this is an indie feature, but it's harder to forgive the script for its weird lapses of logic and the very 25-year-old-dude-working-through-some-cuck-stuff energy that it exudes.

can't decide if it's ironic or perfect that a film about characters trying to read/rewrite the course of their own scripts would have such painfully awkward plotting, acting, dialogue. what i am sure of is that this theoretically cool idea (see amerigo's review) would work better in practice if any of the characters ever behaved like actual people would, or if the director had any tonal consistency. the say cheese and die echoes got me even more pumped for GOOSEBUMPS though so that's something.

Nice try, but ultimately a swing and a miss. This film distinguished itself by having a very unique premise. But the characters were stupid: as in they did things, no one in their right mind would do! And like almost all films it ended so poorly! Also I do need to note for all filmmakers reading this if you shoot a gun into a body and blood sprays onto the window behind the body the bullet would also hit the window and break it. Ergo we see the author is the true idiot behind the characters!

Everything about it is up and down. It starts out pretty good, begins to slump when it gets into the gambling, comes back up again and ends on an overly ambitious twisty note. The characters are much the same, going from believable to unbelievable regularly, however the cast does remain engaging. Still i enjoyed watching it, there is a good sense of mystery. A fun little film despite its obvious flaws.

This was pretty enjoyable. I went into it without expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. It had a bit of low-budget charm to it. The ending wrapped up pretty well, too. Some viewers will be annoyed by the characters' plot-convenient short-sightedness, but it still felt worth my time.

Pretty original and fun time travel movie. Neither the serious, nor Hollywood drivel type of flick. I always enjoy it when I see how film-makers work around budget limitations writing movies in a small setting, like an apartment, in this case. It must be said, the plot aren't great; characters often act randomly, just so the plot moves forward. Also, something about characters feels very 90's. Shallow Grave pops to minds watching it.

I love single room low budget Sci-Fi movies when they are smart, well this one fakes as smart but I'm not exactly sure if it is, since it has a confusing end which may or may not make sense.. It is an interesting watch and keeps you on your seat but in the end I'm not sure.. I might know once I understand the ending but most of what the characters do just makes no sense, no one in their in right minds would act the way these characters do so it distances you a bit from the movie.

Time Lapse is a character drama that has a non-linear causal paradox as its premise; and it's a pretty decent premise. Unfortunately, the characters aren't compelling enough to pull it off. They are well acted, but for the most part, they lack a sense of reality or realism about them. The plot progression is slightly off, and the drama therein occasionally arduous. That said, this film does have a thrilling and cinematically perfect ending.

I have to wonder why a movie with such a riduculous plot needed to be made. The uninspired events, awkward moments, truly stupid plan to get money and terrible dialog takes it from bad to awful. Somewhat entertaining at times, but ultimately fails to deliver. Danielle Panabaker was gorgeous. The music, and production quality was also rather uninspired and tedious.

The ending in a small way redeems a story which is built on three unbelievably dumb characters which make the wrong decisions and ask the wrong question at every turn. The painter is constantly asking himself why he would paint so and so in the future, when the answer is clear: Because he saw it on the picture. Here are characters fully aware they are in a weird time travel plot and they still don't seem to be aware of it. I liked the concept, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.

There's nothing quite like a well done movie about time loops. Unlike most other movies on the theme, Time Lapse actually has a plot that makes sense from start to finish and does not leave any huge plot holes. The negatives though are that the acting was kinda wooden at times, and that the plot rests on the characters all having really bad common sense. Overall, I really liked it.

I like a twilight zone-y indie, some tightening-up and this could've been really good.
