Inventing time travel just to gaslight a lady. You gotta respect it

If homeboy saw what Jon Snow did to Ramsay Bolton, he wouldn't have tried that shit on Sansa. Kind of an uncomfortable fun movie. I mean on one hand, he totally manipulated the hell out of the poor girl, but on the other hand, shit, wouldn't we all love a time machine to change history for the better, strive to put right what once went wrong and hope each time that our next leap...will be the leap home?

I wish the plot would have been from the POV of the protagonist's friend. The friend character was the only truly enjoyable aspect of the film. Turner does an unenthusiastic performance and Butterfield's character is simply dislikable and borderline sociopathic with his abusive obsession. Gisondo was pure joy to watch with his deadbeat antics and had by far the best character arc (which usually SHOULD go to the protagonist). Stupid ending of no value. Nothing gained nothing lost.

I think this may be a teen film (whatever that may be), but I'm really not sure. It looks and sounds awful on paper, and it kind of is. Though for what this film is and who it's for, it's good. I feel like Roger Ebert when he praised Benji, but this is a very nice film, that everyone who's ever been a teen can maybe possibly to.

Time Freak is a mixed bag. Essentially, the film is about acceptance and moving on; a theme toyed with several times before taking a central role in the final act. Unfortunately the ending undermines this with a couple that aren't that exciting to watch. Butterfield is good, Turner is surprisingly decent and Gisondo grows on you, but there's something lacking with the chemistry. Some of the designs are cool, but for every strong moment in the film there is one that is equally as weak or dull.
