Tiger Cage II

The action is top notch again and with Donnie Yen and Rosamund Kwan it has two very likable leads. But the at times cringeworthy humor made me enjoy this a bit less than its predecessor.

Yuen Woo-Ping, one of the best action choreographers to ever tread this earth follows up his excellent action thriller TIGER CAGE with…a pretty bad romantic comedy with occasional action and decides to make Donnie Yen, excellent martial artist and questionable actor, his lead? Certainly a choice! I appreciate thinking outside the box more than most, I think, but this is a remarkable waste of time and talent (the showdown is obviously great but it’s a very long way there). Also, poor Rosamund.

The plot-line is kind of dumb, the main characters are kind of dumb, the humor is kind of dumb, but the action is good. I enjoyed Donnie Yen and the rest. I like the choreography of Donnie's newer movies better, but he is younger here and more spry. It showcases Yen's talents at his peak nicely. Recommended if you like martial arts movies.
