It's so bad it should've been called TISK TISK TISK. It was obviously intended to be a copy of In the Heat of the Night. Only this film doesn't have as strong a mystery or message. The repeated (and unimaginative) racism is tiresome, as are several scenes that show a lack of basic police procedure. Yet the film's biggest crime is a jumbled plot--with pieces that come & go seemingly at random. Jim Brown & George Kennedy are okay, but pale in comparison to future interracial buddy cops. Avoid.

Sort of pre-blaxploitation film which stands somewhere between In the Heat of the Night and Shaft. It could have been a lot riskier and more interesting had it been made 2 years later, but it's already a solid film. The pace is quite slow, but it fits the southern mood. It seemed to be a bit too preachy at first, but eventually showed that there are bad apples in both black and white sides of the town. Brown is good and Kennedy provides great support. Pretty much a definition of a 3-star film.
