Having narrowly averted a major disaster on an oil rig, the Thunderbirds have just returned home to their secret base when TB5, their space based station, is critically damaged in a suspected meteor strike. Unbeknown to them, the attack on TB5 is a deliberate ploy by international master criminal Aristotle Spode to get them off the island. He takes over the island and forces Brains into submission, using the power of his mind. But Spode has overlooked one key factor: Alan, Fermat and Tin Tin are still on the island. (imdb)

Thunderbirds is possibly the most disastrous and insulting film adaption I can recall. Surely the beloved source material is fool proof and has all the ingredients for a fun children's film? The acting and dialogue is painstaking and most frustratingly the Tracy brothers and the Thunderbird vehicles are shelved for the majority of the film. Star Trek's Jonathon Frakes is bizarrely on directing duties and he and everyone responsible for this monstrosity get every decision horribly wrong.

Although some limited appeal comes through to viewers of the original TV series, this modern remake has been excessively infused with American idealology resulting in the themes of the original series being seriously undermined. This, coupled with the introduction of child counterparts to major characters, leads to a feeling of dumbing down and the atmosphere of an overly serious saturday cartoon. Saying that though, the deisgns and castings are reasonably good, giving some appeal to children.

Good movie, loved Vanessa Hudgens. No, this is not some space movie. The plot was good and so was the action. Recommend for passing time.

What an insult to a classic TV show. The plot and script are terrible, with four of the Tracy brothers relegated to nothing roles and the action never leaving the island. The iconic International Rescue vehicles barely even make an appearance. The child protagonists are absolutely dire, and even good actors like Paxton, Edwards and Kingsley can only turn in the blandest of performances.

Top badass moment? Nearly 40 years after the original TV series, seeing Thunderbirds 1 and 2 in action again in the opening scenes is most definitely badass. 0 cats and 0 decapitations.

I was a huge fan of the TV series back in the mid-sixties. If I could, I would kill Jonathan Frakes for making this horrible adaptation.

I hated the original show, and I hated the movie.

A catastrophe on so many levels. Ben Kingsley is the only redeeming feature. Everything else is awful and besides a few decent explosions and special effects shots, it's tacky and an insult to a franchise that so many have grown up with.

I kinda liked the original series as a kid and still find it nostalgic but this is just sad.

While there is certainly nothing special about this film, from a child's perspective it is adequate fare. At least, when compared with many more highly-praised children's movies, it is generally good-natured, possesses a modicum of wit, and shows that some effort has been made toward characterisation. Of course, all this is not to deny that it offers little in the way of distraction for grownups.

Her havde jeg glædet mig til barndommens helte - og fik i stedet en ynkelig omgang plat skuespil og middelmådige effekter

Now come on people - this has the feel of the original and is a strange mix of the original series, Star Trek and the Goonies.. Given just how difficult the subject matter is to film this was a fun piece of escapism. It's not supposed to be serious people !

If your kids are old enough to watch a film without constant supervision, you'd probably to well to drop them off and check out another film in the cineplex while its showing, as this is almost completely devoid of interest for anyone who has seen more than five movies in their lifetime.

I loved the TV series and was severely disappointed by the film. They should have stuck to puppets.

Not as bad as I thought it would be, but this movie is only so so. Bill Paxton is miscast as Jeff Tracey (voiced in the original 60's series by Ray Barrett) and the rest of the family has been "kidded down" for the littlies. And Lady P being 24 and doing Martial arts, WTF??? (the original Lady Penelope was modelled on the show's co-creator, Sylvia Anderson)...

+ might want to skip this one :: They didn't use the "fantastic machines" enough, the story was too "dumbed down," and Paxton and Kingsley just didn't seem interested. Lady Penelope and her manservant were fab, but their fight scene in the latter portion of the movie was too hokey. That goes for the car as well.
