Three Songs of Lenin

I would lick the boots of any leader if Vertov told me to.

What this movie is about is Lenin is awesome.

Hero-worshipping propoganda taken to an absurd extreme. The first "song" is unremarkable, the second one (about Lenin's death) is downright boring. Things pick up a little bit for the final piece ("if only Lenin could see our country now!"), which features some dynamic editing and interesting shots, but still the message is so ridiculously over-the-top ("if you're feeling sorrow, visit Lenin's corpse and your sorrow will drift away like water!") that it's hard to get into it.

É inegável que Lênin foi um grande homem e merece uma homenagem à altura, mas isso aqui por vezes descamba demais para o exagero para o desespero do meu cinismo. BlurayRip no MakingOff.

I really liked the end 15 minutes or so

Icerik olarak bir propoganda filminden ote (Lenin'e dair) hastalikli bir askin filmi oldugu icin yer yer rahatsiz edici olabiliyor.

O' Lenin, we love you!....bla bla bla.... An hour of non-stop God worshiping of the dead Communist leader as assigned to Dziga Vertov.

The vitality of this director's seminal work from just five years prior seems like a distant memory at this point. 'Movie Camera' felt like an exhilarating experiment in form. 'Three Songs' feels like a homework assignment.
