The Sturges touch on the screenplay can be felt in many places, but, whether because it's an early work or because he's not the director, it doesn't come together as well as in his films. The pacing isn't quite right and it feels like it's missing about 10 minutes, but it's still fun. Grant is good, but Sylvia Sidney is better.

Oh... a romantic comedy of the predictable kind and with a very unrealistic plot of a struggling American actress being the stand-in for a sick princess of a small country. But it has Cary Grant and it has the lovely Sylvia Sidney - two times over - so double joy with her there. And watching two of my favorites in romantic settings full of smiles and silly little things really put a smile on my face. And who could not shed a tear at the emotional outburst at the end there. Delightful.

Amusing - I wonder if the writers of "Roman Holiday (1953)" were influenced by this picture?
