Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her

Top badass moment? The plant Rose digs up from her garden as a gift and stuffs into a pot. She could've at least deadheaded it first. It looked as appealing as a big pile of over dry washing when the steam spray on the iron’s broken. OMG this is such a girls’ film, all emotions and regrets, not an explosion, alien or minigun in sight. It’s also very good and quite touching too. Ideal for couples to view when a man wants to show he can be sensitive too. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

A gem of a film with uniformly good performances and great writing, this should be better known. I find it hard to believe the director is a man.

If Lifetime network made good films, this is what it would look like! Accessible, but smart and excellent performances (Close and Hunter being my favorite). The film is broken into several vignettes and the entire film feels like a collection of shorts stories--think of a cinematic version of Alice Munro.

Some mildly interesting aspects, but ultimately irritating.

Maybe I was too young to enjoy this film at the time, but I hated it. It was so boring and dry. Perhaps a little overdramatic.
