Extremely Underrated Film Noir with Robert Young playing against type as a womanizing heel who commits a terrible crime. Or does he?

BlurayRip RARBG.

With Robert Young it felt a little lightweight for such a devious plan. Therefore it took a little time before I got into the groove of the murder plot. But once that got going, They Won't Believe Me (1947) was a entertaining breakdown. And that ending. Wonderful irony!

Thrilling film noir, very James M. Cain, with several exciting twists. Johnson, as the anti-hero's wife, is superb.

A solid slice of noir with a mighty peculiar ending (not a twist, it just comes almost completely out of nowhere).

Flashback story of a broken marriage and a cheating husband. It's quite fun to watch with a few nice reveals and brisk enough pacing. That ending is the most memorable part, though.

Lots of fun with the unreliable narrator motif. Young is the finest I've ever seen him, playing an absolute heel who doesn't quite know (or does he?) how much of a heel he is. The three women in his life are all top-notch as well, none of them portraying simple archetypes. It's not a film that screams greatness, but it works really well, and despite seeming familiar you've never really sure where it's going to go next. The ending in particular has a completely unexpected turn.
