They Meet Again

For the final film in the Dr. Christian series there is also less doctoring and more Jean Hersholt organizing a campaign to set a innocent man free, putting together a investigation team while he himself mobilizes political pull. In typical Dr. Christian they simple don't know what they're aiming for. It's been like that the entire series ranging from medical melodrama, to comedy, to mystery, to musicals. And this one combines several of those genres in a rather weak way.

If you like your Poirot style mysteries low stakes, and with some full-on song and dance numbers awkwardly inserted, you might get a kick out of this endearingly odd pot-boiler; Hersholt brings some style and class to the good doctor, and there are some amusing set pieces highlighted by Coca's lovelorn maid. Nothing earth shattering, but easy to take and enjoyable.
