These Final Hours

The acting of the young girl -- and some good ideas -- make this film stand out from the mediocre average. But at the same time it never grows in something more than a little personal story, although interesting. Cinematography is good enough, but it look like a videoclip or a commercial, nothing remarkable.

A movie not about that handful of lucky ones who survive the world-shattering disaster, but rather a somber tale about all those millions who get their asses frozen in Day After Tomorrow, hit by falling rubble in Armageddon, or drowned by tidal waves in Deep Impact. When you know the end is coming, and there is nothing you can do, how do you spend those final hours? I know, I know, YOU loot to your heart's content. But what does everybody else do? Turns out the answer's pretty heart-wrenching.

Interesting while watching - perhaps not the worst hour of film-watching spent. But I'll forget it entirely, and it feels just unsatisfying enough to warrant a "meh." Not the fault of many of the actors, who were really quite good. That young girl...! Wow! May they get better gigs in the future. P.S. I'm harsh about my apocalyptic films. I unjustly expect more greatness from this genre. ;)

Thinking about the end of the world, what would people do if they had a limited amount of hours left? I like how this movie showed all of that, and how it's very bleak, but also for some people, kind of beautiful. A good story, with nice pacing and the focus on the scumbag dude finding redemption in helping a little girl is a nice. It also has some gorgeous scenes and I really liked this take on the apocalypse, both in its beauty as well as in its ugliness.

Il manque quelque chose, entre la surexposition inutile du sexe et de la drogue, et le manque d'intérêt des personnages, le potentiel aurait mérité un fond, l'émotion pas assez puissante. Ces personnages sont tristes, ont peur, pleurent et se défoncent. Le film pèche dans les couleurs chaudes, et accouche d'une belle ambiance de fin du monde, et puis regarder un mec sexy aux muscles apparents pendant 75 minutes, ça n'a pas de prix.

Writer/Director Zak Hilditch gives us a deeply emotional, thought-provoking film about what it is to be human, but has cleverly disguised it as a sci-fi apocalypse thriller. Now that takes talent. What would you do if you knew you were living your final hours?

This wasn't as bad as I expected. This film raised some questions I thought about for several days, but it's quite a pitty that the plot is so extremely thing and the acting isn't always as good as it should have been. Could have been much more.

This little Aussie film gets all the small things right for a "last day on Earth" film (neighbors killing/sexing each other, families offing their kids, fat neck beards looking to rape young girls) Now that I know the ending, this poster is awesome (if a little misleading)

Ineloquent, direct, efficient.

Quite alright! Not bad for an Australian movie.
